Job Description

Position Title: Residential Support Specialist (F/T Overnight)

Reports To: Assistant Program Director

Schedule: Full Time: Overnight 12am-8am (hiring 1 position)

Pay Type: Hourly (non-exempt)

Position Summary:

The Residential Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting adult women who are healing from trauma, sex trafficking/sexual exploitation, and working through substance use recovery. This position ensures a safe, supportive, and structured environment that promotes empowerment, independence, and sustained recovery. The Residential Support Specialist provides compassionate, trauma-informed care and are responsible for day-to-day supervision of residents, emotional support, and engagement in program activities.

Key Responsibilities:

I. Resident Support

Provide consistent, respectful, and supportive interactions with residents.
Monitor and maintain a therapeutic, recovery-focused environment.
Assist residents in meeting basic needs while also seeking to preserve their independence.

II. Program Facilitation and Engagement

Encourage participation in therapy groups, recovery activities, and daily living skills development.
Support residents in implementing coping strategies and self-care routines.
Provide transportation to off-site appointments, meetings, and skill development outings as requested.
Support residents in the self-implementation of healthy structure and routine by providing accountability, setting limits, and transferring skills.

III. Crisis Intervention and Safety

Use de-escalation skills and trauma-informed practices to manage conflict or crisis.
Support the physical safety and emotional well-being of all residents.
Monitor for signs of relapse, distress, or other concerns and report and respond promptly.
Review residents’ Crisis Safety Plans on a regular basis and assist residents in implementation as indicated.
Maintain working knowledge of all Emergency Procedures and Crisis Response.

IV. Medication Administration

Observe the residents’ self-administration of medication according to established procedures.
Document medication administration according to protocol and complete required documentation for any medication errors.

V. Communication and Documentation

Maintain objective and accurate shift notes and incident reports.
Collaborate with all residential support staff, leadership and clinical staff by offering feedback and actively participating in staff meetings and supervision as required.
Ensure smooth transition and comprehensive communication between shifts.
Communicate directly with respect and professionalism.
Document all critical incidents according to procedure and make required notifications.

VI. Household Responsibilities

Support residents in maintaining cleanliness and order in the residence by modeling the execution of basic household tasks and transferring skills.
Assist with meal preparation, laundry, inventory of supplies, and light housekeeping tasks.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Certification as a Recovery Specialist or Peer Support Specialist strongly preferred.
Experience working within trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and recovery environments.
Valid PA driver’s license.
CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Strong communication, crisis management, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Basic proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Desire to work in a faith-based environment rooted in Christianity.
Cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs of the population served.
Values professionalism, healthy boundaries, self-care, and healing.
