Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Chief Estimator to lead our construction estimating team and drive the accurate, competitive, and comprehensive preparation of project bids. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the entire estimation process, from reviewing construction drawings to developing detailed cost proposals. Your expertise will ensure that project budgets are precisely estimated, risks are mitigated, and client expectations are exceeded. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence project success through strategic pricing, meticulous cost management, and effective negotiation with suppliers and subcontractors. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and possesses a deep understanding of construction processes and estimating software tools.

Responsibilities

Lead the development of detailed construction estimates by interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Manage the entire estimating process for multiple projects, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness in pricing.
Review construction drawings thoroughly to identify material requirements, labor needs, and potential risks.
Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Xactimate to prepare comprehensive cost proposals.
Negotiate with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to secure favorable terms and pricing.
Oversee cost control measures throughout project execution to stay within budget parameters.
Collaborate with project management teams to ensure estimates align with project scope, timelines, and contractual obligations.
Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential cost overruns.
Lead efforts in managing project budgets from initial estimate through final accounting, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
Stay current on industry trends, new materials, pricing strategies, and best practices in construction estimating.

Experience

Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within a fast-paced environment.
Extensive knowledge of construction drawing review and interpretation of technical documents.
Demonstrated expertise in construction estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam (for digital markup), Xactimate or similar tools.
Strong background in cost management, cost control, and estimating material requirements from blueprints.
Experience negotiating contracts and pricing with vendors or subcontractors effectively.
Solid understanding of construction site operations and construction management principles.
Familiarity with contracts, project management methodologies, and financial aspects of estimating large-scale projects.
Construction industry experience across various sectors is highly desirable to ensure comprehensive understanding of diverse project scopes.
