Tax Specialist

Tax Accountant

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Accountant to support our tax compliance and reporting activities. The Tax Accountant will prepare and review federal, state and local tax returns, ensure regulatory compliance, research tax issues, and support tax planning initiatives. This role works closely with internal finance teams and external advisors to deliver accurate, timely tax filings and to identify opportunities to optimize tax positions.

Qualifications

5+yrs demonstrated expertise as a Tax Specialist
5+yrs experience in a lawfirm / CPA / Wealth Management / Banking environment
Experience preparing estate tax returns, gift tax returns, estate and trust income tax returns, charitable trusts, PA inheritance tax returns, "investment" partnership returns Form 1065 and other IRS forms.
Must have experience with fiduciary tax returns.
Experience ProSystems software is a plus.
Active CPA license or progress toward CPA preferred.
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Masters degree or advanced tax coursework preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review federal, state and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations and/or trusts as applicable.
Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulations and internal policies; monitor filing deadlines and coordinate timely submissions.
Research and interpret tax laws, rulings and guidance to resolve complex tax issues and support position papers.
Maintain organized tax workpapers, supporting documentation and audit-ready files for all returns and tax positions.
Support quarterly and annual tax provision calculations and assist with financial statement disclosures related to income taxes.
Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors and government authorities during audits, inquiries and examinations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather tax-related data, implement process improvements and streamline tax workflows.
Assist in tax planning projects, identifying credits, deductions and opportunities to legally minimize tax liability.
Mentor and review the work of junior tax staff, providing feedback and training to strengthen team capabilities.
