Position Summary
The Jr. Operations Manager reports to the VP of Operations and exists to directly support our Operations team — you'll work side-by-side with the VP of Ops on a daily basis, taking ownership (in conjunction with the VP) of overall ratings and guest satisfaction across the Pittsburgh market. Guests book our HostWise properties expecting a spotless, well-maintained, “better-than-a-premium-hotel” experience, and this role is central to delivering on that promise.
Hospitality doesn't slow down for weekends and holidays — that's when we're busiest. Guest check-ins, check-outs, and on-the-ground issues peak exactly when most other industries wind down, so this role's schedule is built around being present when guests need us most.
We're one of the highest-rated hosts in the country, and that didn't happen by accident — we've built a team of A-players: people who take ownership, hold themselves to a high bar, and show up for one another. As a Jr. Operations Manager, you'll join that team, working daily alongside the VP of Operations and fellow Jr. Operations Managers who share the same standard of excellence.
No two days look the same in this role. Daily tasks change drastically based on what a property or guest needs on a given day — you might start the morning creating laundry bags and restocking the warehouse, spend the afternoon on post-cleaning inspections, and end the day staging a new property or meeting a guest who needs something. If you can imagine what a guest could need or want, or something that could happen to a property, it could end up on your list.
Schedule: Sunday–Thursday
Key Responsibilities
- Overall ratings – ensuring HostWise properties are consistently rated 5 stars
- Executing post-cleaning property inspections & providing feedback to cleaners
- Assuring properties don't develop long-term cleaning “build-up” (e.g., dust on baseboards, under beds, in drawers — areas cleaners commonly miss) and touching up as needed
- Identifying maintenance issues due to neglect or oversight while inspecting properties
- Reviewing inspection reports for maintenance issues, and adding/assigning tasks to other staff
- Proactively addressing valid or recurring guest concerns
- Tracking metrics based on inspection scores, guest feedback, etc.
- Creating and organizing laundry bags
- Restocking the warehouse with housekeeping and guest supplies
- Assisting with staging & setup of new properties, as needed
- Delivering items to guests directly, or assigning a “runner” as needed
- Cleaning on rare occasions when there's a cleaning team shortage
- Performing other projects or duties as assigned by the VP of Operations
The Jr. Operations Manager should strive to maintain the highest quality ratings on properties by meeting and exceeding reasonable guest expectations.
