Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Accounting Manager to join our dynamic finance team. This pivotal role involves overseeing the financial management and accounting functions related to project portfolios, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of complex accounting principles, including GAAP, IFRS, and SOX compliance, with a strong background in governmental, non-profit, and public accounting environments. This position offers an excellent opportunity to lead financial operations, optimize cash management processes, and contribute to the strategic growth of our organization.

Responsibilities

Lead the preparation and review of project-specific financial statements, ensuring adherence to IFRS, GAAP, and regulatory reporting requirements.
Oversee general ledger accounting activities, including account reconciliation, journal entries, and balance sheet analysis.
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes related to project expenditures and revenue recognition.
Ensure compliance with SOX controls and internal audit standards across all financial procedures.
Coordinate budget development, forecasting, and variance analysis for multiple projects.
Supervise the month-end and year-end closing processes with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
Oversee cash management activities, including monitoring cash flow forecasts and optimizing liquidity.
Prepare detailed financial reports for internal stakeholders and external regulators.
Implement improvements in accounting software systems such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks to enhance operational efficiency.
Conduct technical accounting research related to complex transactions or new regulatory requirements.
Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations for project-related financial data.

Skills

Extensive knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance.
Proven experience in governmental accounting, non-profit accounting, or public accounting environments.
Strong expertise in financial report writing, account reconciliation, and balance sheet analysis.
Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
Solid understanding of financial concepts including double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
Effective communication skills for preparing comprehensive financial reports and collaborating across departments.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high attention to detail.
