Mondays and Fridays: Through hiring process we will settle on exact hours, examples of shift options 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm or 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

Job Summary

We are seeking a Pennsylvania-licensed Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our medical support team. This is primarily an administrative and care-coordination position supporting our psychiatric prescribers and their patients. Responsibilities include responding to medication-related messages, coordinating prescription refill requests, completing medication prior authorizations, monitoring incoming laboratory results, and maintaining accurate electronic health records.

Although most responsibilities are administrative, the nurse will also have limited hands-on interaction with patients. Clinical duties may include obtaining vital signs, administering prescribed injections, collecting or coordinating laboratory samples, and supporting other in-office medical procedures within the nurse’s training and scope of practice.

The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, comfortable communicating with patients experiencing behavioral health concerns, and able to prioritize requests that may require prompt clinical attention. This position works closely with psychiatric providers, patients, pharmacies, laboratories, clinical staff, and administrative team members.

Primary Responsibilities

Review incoming medication refill requests and route them to the appropriate prescriber for review and approval.
Receive and triage patient reports of medication concerns, possible side effects, or changes in symptoms, following established protocols and promptly escalating clinical concerns to the appropriate prescriber.
Complete and track prior authorizations for psychiatric medications, treatments, and related services.
Communicate with patients, pharmacies, insurance companies, laboratories, and healthcare providers to resolve medication and care-coordination needs.
Monitor incoming laboratory and diagnostic test results, notify prescribers of abnormal or outstanding results, and coordinate follow-up as directed.
Assist psychiatric prescribers with ordering diagnostic testing and ensuring results are received, reviewed, and documented.
Obtain and document patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, and other measurements as requested.
Administer prescribed injections and monitor patients in accordance with clinical protocols and applicable nursing standards.
Collect, process, or coordinate medical and laboratory samples when required.
Document patient communications, medication-related activity, prior authorizations, laboratory information, and follow-up actions accurately and promptly in the electronic health record.
Help maintain clinical supplies, medication-related records, and appropriate procedures for handling on-site samples.
Recognize potential medical or behavioral health concerns and follow established escalation and crisis-response procedures.
Perform all duties in accordance with professional nursing standards, organizational policies, privacy requirements, and the applicable RN or LPN scope of practice.

Qualifications

Current and unrestricted Pennsylvania license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Nursing degree or diploma from an accredited nursing program.
Ability to work a consistent part-time schedule on Mondays and Fridays from either 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. or 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
At least six months of experience in a psychiatric, behavioral health, outpatient medical, or similar healthcare setting preferred.
Experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults in a psychiatric or substance-use treatment setting is a plus.
Strong organizational, prioritization, documentation, and follow-through skills.
Professional and compassionate communication skills, particularly when working with patients experiencing medication concerns or emotional distress.
Comfortable and efficient at using electronic health records, insurance portals, email, and other web-based systems.
Ability to handle confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational requirements.

Position Emphasis

This position is best suited for a nurse who enjoys the coordination and problem-solving side of patient care. The majority of the work involves medication support, patient communication, prior authorizations, laboratory coordination, and documentation, with periodic hands-on nursing duties performed in the office.
