Full Job Description

Oxford Solutions is working with a small manufacturing company in Pittsburgh seeking a Manufacturing Buyer for a direct hire opportunity. This is an onsite role with flexible scheduling, including the option to work four 10-hour days.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a close-knit team environment, values a positive workplace culture, and is comfortable helping across different areas as business needs shift.

Job Duties

Manage purchasing for materials, services, equipment, non-inventory supplies, and other operational needs.
Work with production to plan and prioritize purchasing activity to support customer orders and shop schedules.
Create, manage, and close purchase orders while monitoring supplier acknowledgements, lead times, pricing, and delivery status.
Follow up with suppliers, internal teams, and customers to keep orders moving and resolve questions or delays.
Support production, quality, logistics, finance, and accounts payable with receiving issues, invoice discrepancies, returns, and vendor credits.
Support facility, equipment, and process improvement projects as needed in a small-team manufacturing environment.

Requirements and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered
Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, planning, or a related supply chain role
Experience buying for a machine shop, manufacturing company, or production-based environment
ERP or MRP system experience required
Strong communication and follow-up skills with suppliers, customers, and internal teams
Ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems, and negotiate with vendors
Understanding of purchasing, inventory transactions, supplier lead times, cost, and delivery impact
