To perform as the Berkshire Community College (BCC) official mascot at College and public appearances.
Description of Duties and Tasks:
Performs as Burke the Falcon at BCC and community events. Remains in character while wearing the costume.
Represents BCC's mission and core values in a positive and friendly manner through performances at on and off campus events.
Commits to the assigned schedule of Burke the Falcon appearances at on-campus and off- campus events.
Maintains the proper use of Burke the Falcon costume, as directed.
Interacts, in character, with BCC, faculty, staff, parents & families, children, alumni, and communities' members.
Works events throughout the year, including summers, evenings and weekends, as applicable.
Poses for photographs and communicates without speaking, as directed.
Skills:
Outgoing and creative personality with a willingness and desire to have fun.
Ability to participate in promotional activities in front of audiences.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
Has necessary transportation to attend community and campus events on and off campus.
Ability to work scheduled event dates, including evenings, weekends and during College breaks if necessary.

Job Requirements:
Ability to comfortably wear and support the weight of the Burke the Falcon costume for extended periods of time.
Must be able to perform Burke the Falcon actions (i.e. standing, running, kneeling, reaching, jumping, bending, waving hands/arms, etc.).
Work is performed in and outdoors with exposure to varying temperatures.

Salary: $25.00 to $35.00 per hour; part-time; non-benefited
Hours: Varies based on appearance schedules throughout the year. Average of 20 hours during the academic semester.

Effective Dates: August 2026 - June 30, 2027*
- After the initial selection process, the Burke the Falcon term is for one year, July 1-June 30. Renewal of contract annually if applicable - otherwise, new applications will be sought winter semester. Expected to perform annually at the Berkshire Pride Parade in June, Pittsfield Fourth of July Parade, summer community events, New Student Orientation, first week of classes in the Fall semester, Harvest Run at BCC in September, Fall Foliage Parade in North Adams in October, and other community events as necessary.
