Full time position with benefits. 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday thru Friday - 40 hrs. per week

Accounts Payable Specialist

Rural Health Corporation of NEPA
Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania

Position Summary

Rural Health Corporation of NEPA is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to assist the Senior Accountant with daily financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, audit preparation, financial record maintenance, month-end processes, and compliance activities.

Education, Training and Experience

· High School Diploma or GED required.

· Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

· One year of bookkeeping, AP/AR, healthcare billing, or accounting experience preferred.

· Microsoft Office proficiency required. Excel skills required.

Special Skills and Aptitudes

Accuracy, attention to detail, communication skills, organization, professionalism, confidentiality, teamwork, and sound judgment.

General Ledger Responsibilities

· Assure reconciliation of the general ledger and all subsidiary ledgers to the control accounts in the general ledger for cash, fixed assets, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.

· Perform annual inventories.

· Assure control of cash receipts by verifying monthly cash reports and the application of cash when preparing bank reconciliations.

· Post to the general ledger after preparing all journal entries necessary to keep accounts up to date.

· Assist in preparing the annual budget.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

· Review and process vendor invoices.

· Maintain vendor files and supporting documentation.

· Prepare payment requests and assist with check runs.

· Assist with annual 1099 preparation.

Accounts Receivable

· Post patient and insurance payments.

· Maintain accurate AR records.

· Monitor aging reports.

· Research and resolve payment discrepancies.

Accounting Support

· Assist Senior Accountant with reconciliations.

· Maintain accounting files.

· Assist month-end and year-end closing.

· Support audits and financial reporting.

· Cross-train for departmental coverage.

Compliance and Professional Responsibilities

· Maintain HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.

· Follow accounting policies and internal controls.

· Support HRSA OSV readiness activities.

· Complete required training and perform assigned duties.
