The Educational Funding Coordinator serves as a key contributor in identifying, pursuing, and managing education funding opportunities for K-12 school district clients throughout California. Working with a high degree of independence, this role researches funding programs, develops funding strategies, manages application and compliance processes, and provides funding-related guidance to project teams and clients.
The Educational Funding Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive understanding of California school facility funding programs and independently managing funding activities throughout the funding lifecycle. The position collaborates closely with the Education Funding Strategist, Project Managers, Client Executives, and school district clients while exercising professional judgment in prioritizing opportunities, coordinating submissions, and ensuring compliance with applicable state requirements.
Your Impact:
Strategic
- Independently research, evaluate, and monitor federal, state, and local education funding opportunities.
- Maintain and analyze funding calendars, legislative updates, and opportunity tracking systems to identify actionable opportunities for clients.
- Develop funding recommendations and support funding strategies through data analysis, research, and program evaluation.
- Provide funding-related insights to support master planning, capital planning, and long-range facility planning efforts.
- Stay current on California education funding programs, legislation, and regulatory changes, proactively communicating impacts to internal teams and clients.
- Identify emerging funding trends and recommend strategies to maximize client access to available funding resources.
Operational
- Independently prepare and coordinate funding applications, grant submissions, and supporting documentation.
- Manage tracking systems for funding opportunities, deadlines, application status, compliance requirements, and reporting obligations.
- Lead eligibility assessments and preparation of required documentation for California school facility funding programs.
- Coordinate and oversee collection, review, and submission of information required by the Office of Public School Construction (OPSC), California Department of Education (CDE), and other funding agencies.
- Develop reports, funding analyses, spreadsheets, and funding summaries for clients and internal leadership.
- Monitor project milestones, funding deadlines, and application progress to ensure timely action and successful submission.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation and funding records in accordance with firm standards and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate meetings with clients, agency representatives, and internal teams, ensuring follow-up actions are completed.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for funding-related information and status updates on assigned projects.
Marketing / Business Development
- Contribute to proposal development by identifying relevant funding opportunities and preparing funding-related content and supporting materials.
- Research district capital programs, funding priorities, and market trends to support business development initiatives.
- Develop client presentations, educational resources, and funding guidance materials.
- Maintain and enhance funding resource libraries, reference tools, and best-practice documentation.
- Support thought leadership efforts by sharing funding updates, trends, and program opportunities with internal and external stakeholders.
Collaboration
- Partner with the Education Funding Strategist on complex funding initiatives while independently managing assigned funding efforts and client deliverables.
- Provide funding expertise and advisory support to Project Managers, Client Executives, planners, and design teams.
- Coordinate across marketing, planning, design, and project management teams to integrate funding considerations into project planning and delivery.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with school district clients, public agencies, and funding program representatives.
- Mentor and share knowledge with team members regarding funding processes, requirements, and best practices.
Here's What You'll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Education, Urban or Regional Planning, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
- 3+ years in grants administration, project coordination, public administration, education, finance, architecture, engineering, construction, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, priorities, and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Ability to interpret complex funding requirements and independently develop organized, accurate documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple concurrent funding opportunities and deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams while exercising independent judgment and initiative.

- Experience working directly with California public agencies, school districts, or educational institutions.
- Experience managing grants, public funding programs, or reimbursement-based funding processes.
- Familiarity with California K-12 school facilities funding programs, including OPSC processes and requirements.
- Experience independently preparing funding applications, eligibility documentation, and agency submissions.
- Knowledge of capital planning, bond programs, school facilities planning, or public-sector budgeting.
- Experience within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.
- Ability to develop funding strategies and provide guidance to clients and project teams.
- Experience coordinating directly with state agencies, funding entities, or regulatory bodies.
The actual offered base salary for California locations will vary depending on factors such as individual qualifications, education, experience, skills, job-related knowledge, work location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role will be at or near the top half of the range provided, but the decision will be dependent on the factors of each individual case. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation in the form of discretionary bonuses in addition to base salary and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits. The salary range for this position is below.
