Full Job Description

The Plymouth Hotel Kitchen & Bar, a family-run restaurant deeply committed to our community, is seeking a Kitchen Manager to assist the Chef/Owner in leading our culinary team. As our Assistant Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all daily kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food preparation, cleanliness, and team performance. You will play a crucial role in maintaining our commitment to consistent quality and a positive work environment.

We're looking for someone with a positive, upbeat attitude who thrives in fast-paced environments and excels under pressure. While experience is ideal, we value dedication and leadership potential, and we are willing to train the right candidate. At The Plymouth Hotel, all team members work cohesively, supporting each other to ensure smooth operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and supervise all kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and performance management.
Manage daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
Ensure all food items are prepared to our standards, in a sanitary and timely manner.
Manage inventory, ordering, and stock rotation to minimize waste and ensure adequate supplies.
Maintain and enforce rigorous cleaning and organization standards for the kitchen and all equipment.
Implement and uphold all sanitation and food production codes, including HACCP.
Operate and maintain all standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service and customer satisfaction.
Assist with the overall cleanliness and maintenance of The Plymouth Hotel as needed.
Develop and refine kitchen procedures to enhance efficiency and quality.

JOB REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS

Must be 18+, ideally 21+ due to management responsibilities and equipment operation.
Exceptional dedication to consistency, quality, and guest satisfaction.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
Thorough understanding of all safety and health regulations, including local and state food handling guidelines.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Proficiency in inventory management and ordering systems.
Understand and comply with CA employment laws.

OTHER DETAILS

This is a Part-Time Position, primarily aligned with The Plymouth Hotel's current operating hours of Wednesday - Saturday.
Shifts typically range from 6-10 hours.
The position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing up to 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.
The position involves working with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment, as well as potentially operating phones, computers, printers, tablets, and other electronic devices.
