Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking an experienced individual to join our machining group as Lead CNC Machinist (7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m). The successful candidate will be responsible for operating several brands of CNC lathe to fabricate precision components as well as mentor our CNC operator team. This role requires an in-depth understanding of CNC set up and operation (Gang and Swiss type). Experience working with job set up sheets, tooling organization, and quality assurance strategy. The Lead CNC Machinist will play an integral role mentoring the team as they mature into journeymen operators. While most of the programming is already in place for our part portfolio, some G-code or CAM experience would be a plus.

Responsibilities

1. Set up/run HAAS and Hardinge Gang-style machines, along with Tsugami and Maier Swiss-style CNC lathes.

2. Train and oversee less experienced operators.

3. Conduct routine maintenance on machines and troubleshoot any issues that arise during production.

4. Accurately record times for set-up and operation in data collectors.

5. Collaborate with team members to improve processes and enhance productivity.

6. Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Skills

In depth working knowledge of CNC Standard and Swiss Lathe.
Experience using and explaining precision measuring instruments, technical drawing interpretation.
Math skills for calculations.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Patient demeanor with good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Experience

4-5 years direct hands-on experience operating CNC Gang style and Swiss lathes running with Fanuc and HAAS controllers.
Camworks programming a plus.
Programming and understanding of tooling requirements a plus.
Robodrill operation a plus.
Prior training experience a plus.
CMM measuring experience a plus
G-Code programming a plus
