RN Surgical – Operating Room

Location: Morris, IL
Department: Surgery / Operating Room
Type: Contract
Pay Rate: $57
Contract Duration: 12 Weeks
Schedule: Part-Time (32 Hours per Week)
Shift: 8-Hour Day Shifts (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM and occasional 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM shifts)
Weekend Rotation: Call Rotation Required
On-Call: Yes – Required

About the Role

MedOp Solutions is partnering with a surgical services department in Morris, Illinois to hire an experienced Surgical Technologist for a 12-week contract assignment.

This role supports a busy operating room environment with a diverse surgical case mix including orthopedic, spine, ENT, gynecology, general surgery, and podiatry procedures. The Surgical Technologist will work closely with surgeons and perioperative teams to ensure efficient workflow, patient safety, and successful surgical outcomes.

This opportunity is ideal for surgical technologists who enjoy variety in surgical specialties and are comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced OR setting.

Ortho-Spine:

ENT:

- Thyroid and parathyroid procedures
Gynecology:
- D&C
- Hysteroscopy

- Laparoscopic salpingectomy
General Surgery:
- Appendectomies
- Cholecystectomies
- Hernia repairs
- Bowel resections
Podiatry procedures

Key Responsibilities

Prepare operating rooms and sterile fields for surgical procedures
Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies
Maintain sterile technique and ensure patient safety standards are followed
Prepare and organize surgical instrumentation and equipment
Support room turnover and OR workflow efficiency
Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia staff
Assist with orthopedic and robotic surgical procedures as needed

Required Qualifications

RN license
Minimum 2+ years of Surgical Technologist experience required
Strong operating room experience across multiple specialties
Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment
Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Scrub experience strongly preferred
Experience with orthopedic and robotic procedures preferred

Scheduling & Expectations

Shift times:
- 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Occasional 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM shifts
Part-Time: 32 hours per week
Weekend call rotation required
On-call requirements:
- 6–8 call days per month
- Includes one 3-day weekend rotation (Friday–Sunday)
- 60-minute response time required
Holiday coverage as needed

Orientation & Onboarding

Orientation hours are fully billable
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly
