Full Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly accountable Director of Security to oversee security operations across high risk shelter and rehabilitation locations in New York City. This leadership role is responsible for the full scope of security operations, including personnel management, client relations, compliance, and overall site performance. The ideal candidate will bring a strong command presence, operational discipline, and the ability to manage complex, high-interaction environments with professionalism and control.

This individual will directly oversee a team of 18+ supervisors as well as a Security staff of over 100 Security Officers and ensure that all sites operate in strict accordance with FDNY requirements, post orders, and client expectations. Success in this role requires a proactive leader who can recruit, train, and develop staff, while maintaining a consistent standard of safety, accountability, and service across all locations. The Director of Security will serve as the primary liaison between security operations and client leadership, ensuring alignment, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Partner & Business Operation Goals

Oversee daily security operations across shelter and rehabilitation sites with 24/7 coverage
Develop and achieve weekly, monthly, and quarterly operational goals.
Provide regular updates to senior leadership via Monthly State of Affairs Summary and metrics reports.
Collaborate with functional departments to meet business objectives.
Serve as the primary point of contact for client leadership, maintaining strong relationships
Deliver high levels of customer satisfaction through frequent client engagement.
Participate in company and client initiatives, committees, and task forces.

Performance Management

Recruit, hire, and retain top security personnel (F02 Guards, F80 Supervisors)
Set and monitor performance goals for security teams.
Manage and lead a team of 18+ site supervisors, ensuring accountability and performance
Ensure timely completion of performance reviews, development plans, and improvement processes for employees.

Training & Development

Develop, implement, and continuously refine post orders and site-specific procedures
Conduct regular site visits, quality assurance inspections and monitor Security Officer performance
Provide on-the-ground training and coaching to supervisors and officers
Identify and address performance gaps within teams.

Other Responsibilities:

Maintain staffing levels, scheduling coverage, and operational continuity across all sites
Ensure full compliance with FDNY F02 and F80 certification requirements
Handle escalated incidents, conflicts, and emergency situations with professionalism and control
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all incidents and operational updates
Enforce company standards, policies, and expectations consistently across all locations
Identify operational risks and implement proactive solutions to improve safety and efficiency

Requirements:

Minimum 7 years of experience in a Security Management role
Proven experience in multi-site account management
Strong background in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Post Orders
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Experience conducting incident investigations, including documentation and follow-up
Proven leadership experience managing large teams (50+ personnel)
Strong experience in high-risk or high-interaction environments (shelters, hospitals, etc.)
Knowledge of FDNY F02 and F80 requirements (certifications strongly preferred)
Strong customer service orientation with effective problem-solving skills.
Law enforcement or military background preferred
