Level IV CNC Operator

Location: Kalamazoo, MI
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $28.00–$35.00/hour + Shift Differential
Schedule: B-Shift | Monday – Thursday | 3:30 PM – 1:30 AM

Are you an experienced CNC Machinist ready to take on a leadership role while continuing to work hands-on with advanced machining technology? We're partnering with a growing precision manufacturer that produces mission-critical components for the aerospace, medical, defense, and industrial sectors.

This is an opportunity to become a technical leader on second shift—supporting production, mentoring teammates, and ensuring quality while working with advanced multi-axis CNC equipment.

What You'll Do

As a Level IV CNC Operator / Lead, you'll combine advanced machining skills with leadership responsibilities to help drive production, quality, and continuous improvement.

Machining Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC vertical milling machines.
Perform tooling changes, offset adjustments, and machine corrections.
Complete machine setups and product changeovers efficiently.
Inspect first-piece and in-process parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical measuring equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, inspection plans, and GD&T specifications.
Monitor machine performance and make process adjustments to maintain quality and production goals.
Troubleshoot machining issues and help minimize downtime and scrap.
Maintain equipment and keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.

Leadership Responsibilities

Serve as the technical lead for the second-shift machining team.
Help communicate daily production priorities and workflow.
Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring new machinists.
Provide coaching and technical guidance throughout the shift.
Support real-time production decisions to maximize efficiency.
Communicate shift performance, challenges, and improvement opportunities with leadership.
Promote safety, 5S standards, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Help identify training opportunities and support the development of team members.

What We're Looking For

Minimum of 2 years of CNC machining experience, preferably with vertical milling.
Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
Experience with machine setup, tooling, offsets, and high-speed machining.
Proficient with precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical inspection tools.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Self-motivated with leadership potential and a desire to mentor others.
Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
Ability to stand and work throughout a full production shift.

Preferred Experience

Aerospace, medical device, or other precision manufacturing experience.
Previous lead, trainer, mentor, or supervisory experience.
Technical machining education or trade school certification.
