Vice President of Field Operations — Mechanical Contractor

Location: Remote / Home-Based (United States) — must be willing to travel extensively to active project sites

Travel: 50–75%

Compensation: $200,000 – $250,000 base, DOE + annual performance bonus, vehicle/travel allowance, full benefits

About the Opportunity

A leading mission critical construction contractor is seeking a Vice President of Field Operations to lead field execution across a growing portfolio of large-scale data center and industrial projects nationwide. This is a high-visibility executive role reporting to senior leadership, with direct ownership of safety, productivity, schedule, and craft workforce performance in the field.

You do not need to relocate. This role is built for a seasoned field leader who is comfortable living out of a suitcase and being on the ground where the work is happening.

What You'll Do

Own field execution across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, and on budget
Lead and develop a team of Project Directors, Superintendents, General Foremen, and field leadership
Drive a zero-incident safety culture and enforce compliance with OSHA and client site requirements
Partner with preconstruction, project management, and prefabrication teams to align field execution with project plans
Forecast and manage craft manpower needs, staffing ramp-ups, and labor productivity across regions
Monitor labor cost, unit rates, and field productivity metrics; identify and correct issues before they hit the schedule
Serve as a senior point of contact for owners, general contractors, and client stakeholders on site performance
Standardize field processes, tools, and reporting across all projects
Recruit, mentor, and retain field leadership talent in a tight labor market
Support project startup, mobilization, and closeout activities nationwide

What You Bring

15+ years of construction experience with at least 5 years in a senior field leadership role (Director, VP, or equivalent)
Proven track record on large-scale mission critical, data center, industrial, or heavy commercial projects
Experience managing multi-site, multi-state operations and self-perform craft labor
Strong command of safety programs, scheduling, labor productivity tracking, and field cost control
Ability to lead and hold accountable large field teams, including superintendents and foremen
Willingness and ability to travel extensively to job sites across the U.S.
OSHA 30 required; additional safety certifications a plus

Preferred

Hyperscale or colocation data center project experience
Background with a self-perform electrical, mechanical, or multi-trade contractor
Experience with prefabrication and modular construction delivery
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (equivalent experience considered)
