Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Carton Plant Manager to lead the safe, efficient, and high-quality operation of a manufacturing plant producing egg cartons and related packaging products. This leader will have full responsibility for plant performance across production, maintenance, quality, safety, warehouse/logistics, labor management, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate is a strong operational leader who can drive results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while building a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and operational excellence. This role is responsible for meeting production targets, controlling costs, improving processes, developing plant leadership, and ensuring the facility consistently delivers against customer, quality, and business expectations.

Core Responsibilities

Lead all day-to-day plant operations across production, maintenance, quality, warehouse/logistics, and facility support functions.

Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety standards, policies, and regulations.

Own plant performance against key metrics including safety, quality, output, labor efficiency, downtime, waste, service, and cost.

Ensure the plant consistently meets production schedules and customer requirements while maintaining high standards for product quality and operational reliability.

Direct and develop plant leadership teams, supervisors, and frontline operations to improve performance, accountability, and employee engagement.

Manage staffing, workforce planning, employee relations, coaching, and performance management across the facility.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, cost reduction, waste reduction, process standardization, and overall equipment effectiveness.

Partner cross-functionally with supply chain, engineering, maintenance, quality, finance, HR, and commercial teams to support business priorities and customer needs.

Oversee preventive maintenance and equipment reliability efforts to minimize downtime and improve plant performance.

Develop and manage plant budgets, operating plans, forecasts, and cost-control initiatives to support profitability targets.

Lead capital improvement and plant improvement projects, including equipment upgrades, process improvements, and facility enhancements.

Monitor inventory, raw materials, and operational resources to ensure efficient plant flow and service continuity.

Ensure compliance with company policies, quality systems, GMPs or manufacturing standards, and all required reporting and documentation practices.

Use data and plant metrics to identify issues quickly, solve problems, and drive fact-based operational decisions.

Serve as the plant’s senior on-site leader, setting expectations, communicating priorities clearly, and driving a high-performance culture.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, manufacturing, business, or a related field preferred.

7+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, with significant experience managing plant operations or a large functional area within a plant.

Prior experience in packaging, molded fiber, paper/carton converting, consumer products, food packaging, or other high-volume manufacturing environments strongly preferred.

Demonstrated success leading plant performance in a 24/7 or high-output manufacturing setting.

Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, safety, quality systems, maintenance, labor productivity, and continuous improvement methods.

Experience managing plant budgets, operating plans, cost controls, and capital projects.

Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop supervisors and managers in a plant environment.

Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills with the ability to balance strategic priorities and daily operational execution.

Comfortable using KPIs, reporting, and operational data to drive accountability and performance improvement.

Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, or other continuous improvement methodologies preferred.

Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills.

Ability to thrive in a hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing environment with a high sense of ownership and urgency.

Pay: $135,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
