Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Project Accountant to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will oversee financial operations related to construction projects, ensuring accurate accounting, cost management, and compliance with industry standards. Your expertise will help drive project success through precise financial analysis, reporting, and collaboration with project managers. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale construction initiatives while honing your skills in financial software and accounting principles.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or its equivalent is required. Minimum of 3 years of Accounting, Bookkeeping, A/P, A/R, Office Management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Access, and MS Word

Strong analytical, written, and verbal skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of the accounting team in a fast-paced environment. Must possess the ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines. Candidate must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and work with minimal direction to succeed in this position.

A physical presence at the designated office or job site is necessary to fulfill the requirements of the position.

Essential Functions

Includes, but is not limited to, the following:

· Record and Track the cost of project activity such as materials, labor, and overhead burden

· Assists in the creation and analysis of internal project budgets

· Prepares periodic reports comparing estimated costs to actual costs

· Administers and documents change orders, purchase orders, and extra work authorizations

· Posts transactions to project worksheet, ledger, or computer files

· Develop a detailed billing packet with all necessary documents

· Responsible for tracking purchase orders for job materials and lease equipment

· Works closely with the purchasing department to resolve open purchase orders

· Interface with project management to ensure accurate AIA billing is entered and maintained in the MS Excel job workbook/folder and Vista (accounting program)

· Interface with Customer's project accountants and/or AP personnel

· Enters original and change order budgets in the Vista system

· Works with Insurance Certificates for vendors and GCs

· Create and maintain DOP reports for project management

· Conducts internal audits to ensure good accounting practices are followed on-site and notifies management of any potential financial risk
