Full Job Description

About the Opportunity

Good Harbor Group is conducting a confidential search on behalf of an innovative, growth oriented biopharmaceutical organization with a robust clinical development pipeline and a strong commitment to advancing therapies for patients with serious and complex diseases. The organization is expanding its clinical development capabilities and is seeking an experienced Associate Director of Biostatistics to provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple development programs.

This individual will lead the statistical execution of clinical studies while collaborating with crossfunctional teams across Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Statistical Programming, and Commercial Operations. The role also includes oversight of external statistical resources, including contract research organizations (CROs) and independent consultants.

This is a hybrid position requiring approximately three days per week on-site in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Position Responsibilities

Provide statistical leadership across clinical development programs from study design through regulatory submission
Partner with Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Statistical Programming, and Commercial teams to support clinical trial execution
Lead the statistical design, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of clinical studies
Manage external statisticians, statistical programmers, CROs, and other contract resources
Ensure the timely delivery of high-quality statistical analyses and study results
Review and validate statistical analyses generated by external partners
Collaborate with Statistical Programming to develop analyses for internal presentations, scientific publications, and regulatory submissions
Evaluate CDISC-compliant datasets and electronic submission packages for completeness, regulatory compliance, and submission readiness
Remain current with evolving regulatory requirements and advances in statistical methodologies used in clinical research
Support internal audits and vendor assessments related to statistical practices and compliance with established procedures
Participate in the development, implementation, and governance of biostatistical standards and standard operating procedures
Contribute to process improvements and the advancement of statistical best practices across the organization

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline
Minimum of five years of experience supporting clinical trial development within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industry
Demonstrated experience leading statistical activities across multiple clinical development programs
Proven project management experience within a clinical development environment
Experience managing statistical deliverables through CROs and external vendors
Strong knowledge of clinical trial methodology, statistical analysis, and regulatory requirements

Technical Skills

Comprehensive understanding of global regulatory guidance related to the statistical analysis of clinical data
Familiarity with global regulatory submission requirements and industry standards
Advanced proficiency with SAS
Experience with SAS/GRAPH, SAS/MACRO, and R
Demonstrated ability to apply advanced statistical methods and interpret complex clinical data
Experience with CDISC standards and electronic submission requirements

Additional Requirements

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Experience working within a highly regulated environment is strongly preferred
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams

This individual will be comfortable leading complex statistical initiatives, managing external partnerships, and collaborating with scientific and business stakeholders across multiple functions. Candidates who have experience supporting regulatory submissions, directing CRO relationships, and leading statistical activities within biotechnology or pharmaceutical development programs are strongly encouraged to apply.
