We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer with a strong technical background in building enclosure consulting, structural engineering, and forensic investigations. This is an in-office position that offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects involving building enclosure consulting, structural engineering, forensic investigations, restoration, design, and construction administration.
Position Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of structural engineering and project management tasks, including:
- Perform structural condition assessments of existing buildings, parking garages, and other structures.
- Conduct field investigations, structural surveys, forensic evaluations, inspections, and testing to identify deterioration, distress, and structural deficiencies.
- Evaluate structural components as they relate to building enclosure performance and long-term building durability.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports documenting observations, analyses, conclusions, and repair recommendations.
- Develop repair drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents for structural rehabilitation, restoration, renovation, and adaptive reuse projects.
- Perform structural analysis and design of repair solutions involving reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, wood, and foundation systems.
- Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, Requests for Information (RFIs), and product substitutions.
- Provide construction administration services including site observations, field reports, progress meetings, submittal reviews, punch lists, and review of completed work.
- Coordinate with architects, owners, contractors, consultants, and internal project teams throughout all phases of design and construction.
- Collaborate with architects and building enclosure consultants on multidisciplinary rehabilitation and new construction projects.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and client communications.
- Ensure projects comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and engineering best practices.
- Participate in forensic investigations, structural evaluations, failure analyses, and litigation support when required.
- Assist with proposal preparation, business development efforts, and cultivating long-term client relationships.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural engineering emphasis (Master's degree preferred).
- 10+ years of structural engineering experience in consulting or a related professional environment.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred.
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, wood, foundation systems, and how structural components integrate with building enclosure systems.
- Working knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC), ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, TMS, NDS, and other applicable engineering standards.
- Experience preparing engineering reports, construction documents, technical specifications, and repair details.
- Technical proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Tekla Structural Designer, or similar structural analysis software, and Microsoft 365 required; Revit experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites throughout the region.
