Senior Director of Day Services and Clinical Supports
Salary: $105,000-$120,000
Summary of Position:
The Senior Director of Day Services and Clinical Supports provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for multiple day service programs, including Day Habilitation, Community‑Based Day Services (CBDS), Employment Supports, and related initiatives. This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that advance the goals of Day Habilitation and community‑based services, expand day service opportunities, foster innovative employment supports, and strengthen community partnerships, while ensuring day services are person‑centered, inclusive, and aligned with the organization’s mission and regulatory requirements, promoting dignity, autonomy, skill development, and meaningful community inclusion.
In addition, the Senior Director provides organizational‑level leadership and oversight of Clinical Supports, with responsibility for ensuring the effective design, implementation, and ongoing alignment of clinical practices with regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and best practices across service areas, including organizational oversight of Positive Behavior Support (PBS) practices and systems, in alignment with applicable regulatory requirements. This oversight focuses on system integrity, regulatory readiness, and the consistent integration of clinical supports within program operations, rather than direct clinical practice.
Through this leadership, the Senior Director strengthens service quality, supports sustainable growth, and ensures outcomes that reflect regulatory expectations and the organization’s commitment to person‑centered services that uphold dignity, autonomy, and inclusion.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Strategic Leadership and Program Development
- Develop and implement a vision and strategy for day services that advances organizational goals and responds to evolving community needs.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to expand employment services and job coaching programs, fostering partnerships and innovative service models.
- Lead initiatives that promote inclusive, person-centered programming and enhance community integration.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align day service strategies with organizational priorities and funding opportunities.
- Provide strategic direction for the development and alignment of ancillary and clinical supports that function across service lines, ensuring consistency and effectiveness at the organizational level.
- Partner with executive and senior leadership to anticipate regulatory, system, and service delivery trends impacting Day Services and Clinical Supports.
Operational and Regulatory Program Oversight
- Ensure alignment of quality management practices across service lines to promote consistency, accountability, and high‑quality, person‑centered services.
Staff Oversight and Training
- Provide strategic leadership for the supervision and development of Day Services staff, ensuring teams are supported to deliver high‑quality, person‑centered services aligned with New England Village’s mission and values.
- Provide supervision and oversight of the Director of Clinical Services and other designated clinical leadership roles.
- Establish expectations for clinical leadership accountability, regulatory compliance, and alignment with organizational standards across service lines.
- Support the identification and advancement of training and professional development opportunities that align with organizational priorities, regulatory requirements, and evolving service needs.
- Ensure onboarding and required ongoing trainings and certifications are completed in accordance with regulatory standards and NEV practice.
- Partner with Human Resources to support recruitment, retention, and staffing decisions that align with program needs and organizational goals.
- Provide regular supervision and leadership engagement with direct reports, including participation in team meetings and scheduled one‑to‑one supervision focused on performance, development, and alignment.
- Utilize organizational systems to support operational oversight, workforce planning, and effective team coordination.
- In collaboration with Human Resources and Senior Leadership, support timely and appropriate responses to incidents, concerns, or complaints, including follow‑up actions such as staff retraining, performance coaching, and documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Leadership and Professionalism
- Actively contribute perspective and insight to organizational planning and decision‑making processes, bringing forward considerations related to Day Services, Clinical Supports, and system‑wide impacts to support informed, mission‑aligned change.
- Promote leadership practices that foster trust, shared accountability, collaboration, transparency, and engagement across teams, supporting strong working relationships and an environment in which staff feel valued, heard, and equipped to succeed in delivering person‑centered services.
- Participate as a member of New England Village’s Senior Leadership Team, contributing to organizational alignment, planning, and decision‑making.
- Serve as a senior organizational resource for consultation on complex service, regulatory, or system‑level issues related to Day Services and Clinical Supports.
- Represent the organization in external meetings, audits, and regulatory discussions related to Day Services and ancillary or clinical supports, as delegated by the COO.
- Contribute to organizational strategy and continuous improvement efforts by identifying trends, emerging needs, and opportunities to strengthen service delivery.
- Demonstrate professionalism, adaptability, and sound judgment in navigating complex situations, including during periods of change or increased operational demand.
- Participate in on‑call responsibilities as part of the Senior Leadership team, in accordance with organizational protocols.
- Perform other duties consistent with the scope and responsibilities of the role as needed.

Reporting Relationship:

Knowledge and Experience:
- Educational preparation in health or human services, typically at the bachelor’s level, with advanced education or clinical training preferred.
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in good standing, meeting the qualifications of a Senior PBS Qualified Clinician as defined at 115 CMR 5.14(10)(b).
- Qualifications consistent with those of a PBS Qualified Clinician under 115 CMR 5.14(10)(a).
- Substantial training and/or experience in function‑based behavioral assessment and treatment, including post‑graduate coursework, formal professional training, and applied practice (generally reflected through a minimum of five years of progressive experience).
- Demonstrated clinical experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through behaviorally based interventions (typically a minimum of three years of direct clinical experience).
- Progressive leadership experience within healthcare or human services organizations, including responsibility for supervision, program oversight, and system‑level decision‑making (often reflected through 7–10 years of increasing leadership responsibility, including supervisory roles).
- Advanced knowledge of DDS‑funded Day Services (CBDS and Employment Programs), MassHealth Day Habilitation services, and applicable CARF standards, with the ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements at an organizational level.
- Working knowledge of state contract procurement processes and service authorization frameworks relevant to publicly funded human services.

- Ability to work with confidential data such as individual case records, which if disclosed inadvertently could have significant internal effect or minor external effect.
