Sales Manager 2
Idaho Asphalt Supply, Inc. is a leading asphalt supplier and marketer in the Inland Northwest and Pacific Northwest Regions. With plants in Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, California, Nevada and Arizona, IAS supplies a diverse product line of asphalts, polymer-modified asphalt, and asphalt emulsions to the road maintenance and construction industry. IAS is looking for an energized and flexible self-starter to fill a full-time opening for a Sales Manager 2.
Position Overview:
The Sales Manager 2 position manages assigned regional markets to achieve sales and profit goals, designs and recommends sales programs, sets short- and long-term sales strategies, and evaluates and implements appropriate new sales techniques to increase the department’s sales volume.
The Sales Manager 2 may recommend product, process, or service enhancements to improve customer satisfaction, operational alignment, and sales potential. The position ensures projects are completed on time and within budget, provides leadership and support to lower-level sales managers and sales team members, and acts as an advisor to the sales team regarding projects, tasks, customers, systems, and operations. This position reports to the Regional Senior Sales Manager.
Position Responsibilities:

Assist in qualifying new and existing customer credit and account status.

Conduct in-depth market analyses to enhance our competitive advantage.

Strategize short- and long-term sales and marketing objectives to meet company objectives.

Independently research funding, agency programs, market conditions, customer needs, and competitive activity to provide input for Directors and Vice Presidents in the development of short- and long-term market objectives.

Accurately enter/update contract information in the company ERP system.

Provide, maintain, and improve Sales ERP tools, documents, reports, and processes to support the sales team.

Implement company policies, procedures, and sales processes consistent with company objectives.

Conduct customer visits, developing healthy strategic relationships, strengthening customer loyalty, and understanding customer business objectives, operational challenges, and long-term needs.

Serve as a trusted advisor to customers by providing knowledgeable technical support, value-driven solutions, and timely follow-through.

Resolve contractual customer problems and issues while independently facilitating customer conflict resolution and demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities.

Full product and process understanding, including PMA, cutbacks, AC, emulsions, asphalt supply, production, logistics, and related department processes.

Research and submit project quotes/bids to meet sales market share and profit goals.

Research and provide contractual product specifications across divisions

Negotiate, prepare, and manage purchase agreements.

Manage assigned sales-specific programs to include budget, objectives, and outcomes.

Collaborate with others on company-wide sales initiatives.

Collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, operational, technical, and supply teams to resolve intra-department and inter-department issues and achieve customer and company objectives.

Build and leverage relationships with customers, agencies, industry partners, and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities, strengthen market presence, and drive sustainable growth.

Represent the company with the highest integrity at industry associations, conferences, customer meetings, and market events.

Monitor KPIs and respond accordingly to execute market plan.

Create sales plans and analyze data to support regional sales strategies and market objectives.

Provide market intelligence and customer insights to leadership to support sales planning, market development, and strategic decision-making.

Help with mentoring of sales team, identifying educational opportunities and providing assignment.

Provide backup, guidance, and support for lower-level sales managers and sales team members.

Foster a customer-focused culture by developing strong partnerships and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and retention.

Demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills consistent with company culture.

Serve as backup to Senior Sales Managers as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
To be a strong fit for this opportunity you will have:

5+ years in Asphalt Sales or related experience.

2-4 years of regional sales management level experience.
-
Bachelor’s degree in business or construction management or engineering preferred.
-
Extensive knowledge of the Asphalt Sales function and departmental processes.

Full product and process knowledge across asphalt, polymer-modified asphalt, cutbacks, emulsions, supply, logistics, and customer applications.

Proficiency with computers and experience with the Microsoft Office group of programs.

Strong working knowledge of ERP systems, reports, sales tools, and related processes.

Possess a valid driver’s license without limitations.

Possess the ability to work independently.

Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
