ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Under general supervision, this entry-level position provides generalist support for student success programs and services within the department. The incumbent assists with the implementation and coordination of programs that promote student engagement, retention, and academic success, with primary support for the Bronco Scholars and I Am First initiatives.
The position supports outreach, program activities, and student engagement efforts, while also contributing to a variety of departmental initiatives as needed. The incumbent works collaboratively with staff and student leaders, provides basic guidance to students, and refers more complex concerns to appropriate staff.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):

Provide generalist support for multiple student success programs and services within the department, assisting with program delivery, coordination, and student engagement activities.
- Assist with the day-to-day implementation of the Bronco Scholars and I Am First programs, ensuring effective delivery of services and activities.
- Support the planning and execution of program activities, workshops, and events, including logistics coordination, communication, and material preparation.
- Assist with summer program implementation (1-week residential and 6-week academic program), including supporting student engagement, logistics, and adherence to program guidelines and safety procedures.
- Support mentorship program operations, including outreach, participant tracking, communication, and coordination of workshops and engagement activities.

Participate in department and campus committees (e.g., First-Gen Week planning) and assist with related programming and events.
- Collaborate with staff to support program communications, including social media and targeted outreach efforts using campus-supported platforms.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and systemwide or campus partner meetings as appropriate.
- Assist with monitoring student participation and referring students to appropriate campus resources when needed

Provide support for additional department programs, services, and initiatives as assigned.
- Assist with outreach and recruitment efforts for department programs, including participation in orientation, campus events, and informational sessions. Support recruitment and onboarding of student leaders and program participants.
- Assist in the coordination and delivery of training sessions for student leaders, including scheduling, materials preparation, and logistical support.
- Provide guidance and support to student leaders within established program guidelines.
- Monitor completion of assigned tasks by student leaders and provide updates to professional staff.
- Serve as an initial point of contact for student leaders and participants, referring more complex concerns to appropriate staff.
- Assist in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of student leaders.
- Support the implementation of training and development opportunities for student leaders.
- Provide input to professional staff regarding student leader performance and development.
- Encourage student engagement and skill development through structured program activities.
- Assist with maintaining program records, participant data, and tracking systems.
- Support program evaluation efforts, including collecting and organizing participant feedback.
- Assist with preparing summary reports and program updates as requested.
- Support presentations and outreach efforts at campus events as appropriate.
- Maintain professional and timely communication with students, staff, and campus partners.
- Assist with outreach campaigns to support student recruitment, retention, and engagement.
- Utilize standard office and communication tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, and approved platforms) to complete assignments.
- Respond to routine program inquiries and maintain accurate documentation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience in the direction or coordination of group activities working collaboratively with a diverse group of students and staff.
- Ability to organize schedules, provide work direction, maintain open and supportive communication, provide leadership, keep team accountable.
- Ability to understand and explain university policies and procedures.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with diverse constituencies and department staff.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with educational programming, basic experience with assessment activities, and understanding of student development theory.
- Experience working with under-represented, first generation, and transfer students.
- Demonstrates compassion for student needs as well as to faculty and the surrounding community, demonstrates patience, objectivity, responsiveness, and persuasiveness, independent decision-making skills are desired.
- The candidate communicates clearly through a variety of modes that includes verbal, written and presentational, demonstrates effective listening skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with students from varied cultures and backgrounds.

ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year.
