Full Job Description

Serrato Law Firm, A.P.C. is a top rated immigration law firm in Orange County. Our firm is looking for an experienced legal assistant or paralegal to join our growing team.

Legal assistant will work primarily in Removal Defense assisting with cases before the Los Angeles, Adelanto, and San Diego Immigration Courts. They will work under the direction of an attorney and a Legal Assistant Superior, but are expect to complete their work independently.

Applicants must have at least one year experience working in immigration law. Knowledge of Cancellation of Removal and Asylum application procedures is a must.

Responsibilities:

Assist with drafting Request for Joint Motion to Reopen with the Department of Homeland Security, and preparing Joint Motion to Reopen.
Assist in preparing application for filing with EOIR and USCIS, primarily Cancellation of Removal, Asylum, and Employment Authorization Applications.
Familiarity with U-Visa, Family Based Petitions (I-130), and\or Applications For Stay of Removal (I-246) is a plus.
Assist in drafting motions, briefs, and various legal documents.
Preparing filings for submission with USCIS, EOIR, and other government agencies in accordance with respective standards.
Assist clients in compiling and preparing evidence.
Drafting translations of various legal documents for submission to court.
Communicate regularly with client regarding case status.
Manage independent case load and ensure all deadlines are met.
Maintaining internal case management system.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree or Paralegal Certification preferred. (International degrees will be considered.)
+1 Year immigration law experience.
Knowledge of EOIR and USCIS filing standards.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Ability to work independently
Ability to work under strict legal deadlines.
Strong organizational skills, and ability to manage
Must be able write and speak in Spanish and English fluently.

Compensation is commensurate with experience. Positions is eligible for benefits including paid vacation, paid sick leave, retirement savings and health insurance.
