Senior Pipefitter – Hurst ConstructionJob Overview
Hurst Construction is seeking an experienced Senior Pipefitter to join our team. We are looking for a skilled craftsman who can read and interpret piping drawings and isometrics, accurately lay out and fit piping systems, and perform quality work with minimal supervision.
This is a senior-level position for an experienced pipefitter who understands proper layout, fit-up, measurements, offsets, fittings, flanges, valves, and piping components.
All candidates must successfully complete Hurst Construction's pipefitter skills test to qualify for this position.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret piping isometrics, blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Lay out, fabricate, fit, and install piping systems according to drawings and project requirements
- Accurately calculate and lay out offsets, takeoffs, pipe lengths, angles, and fitting configurations
- Measure, cut, bevel, thread, and prepare pipe for fit-up and installation
- Properly fit and align pipe, fittings, flanges, valves, and other piping components
- Verify dimensions, orientation, elevations, and alignment before completing fit-up
- Identify piping materials, fittings, flanges, valves, and related components
- Work closely with welders to prepare accurate and quality fit-ups
- Safely perform or assist with rigging and positioning of piping and components
- Identify and correct fit-up or installation issues in the field
- Use pipefitting hand tools, power tools, levels, measuring equipment, and other trade-specific tools safely and effectively
- Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to complete work safely and efficiently
- Follow Hurst Construction safety policies and all applicable jobsite safety requirements
- Maintain a high standard of quality, productivity, and workmanship
Qualifications
- Senior/Journeyman-level industrial pipefitting experience required
- Strong ability to read and work from piping isometric drawings
- Strong knowledge of pipe layout, fabrication, fit-up, and installation
- Ability to calculate offsets, takeoffs, angles, and pipe measurements accurately
- Knowledge of common piping materials, fittings, flanges, valves, and components
- Ability to use standard pipefitting tools and measuring equipment
- Experience with rigging and safely handling piping and equipment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work effectively as part of a team
Required Pipefitter Skills Test
Applicants must successfully pass Hurst Construction's pipefitter skills test before being hired into the Senior Pipefitter position.
The skills test is used to verify practical pipefitting knowledge and the ability to perform at the level expected of a Senior Pipefitter. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate knowledge of areas such as:
- Reading piping drawings and isometrics
- Pipefitting measurements and calculations
- Offsets and takeoffs
- Fitting and flange identification
- Pipe layout and fit-up
- Proper use of pipefitting tools
- General industrial pipefitting knowledge and safe work practices
Years of experience and previous job titles are considered, but demonstrated pipefitting ability is required for this position.
