General Manager – Barrel 33
Location: Sandpoint, ID (Post Falls, ID Spring 2027)
Reports To: Business Owners
Position: Full-Time General Manager
About the Role
Barrel 33 is looking for an experienced, motivated, and hands-on General Manager to lead our Sandpoint location.
We’re looking for someone who takes ownership of their business, leads from the floor, develops a strong team, understands the numbers, and knows how to create an experience that keeps guests coming back.
This is not a desk-management position. Our General Manager should be visible, engaged, and aware of what is happening throughout the business — supporting the team during busy periods, interacting with guests, identifying bottlenecks, and making smart decisions in real time.
If you love hospitality, enjoy developing people, and get excited about growing sales and building a great restaurant culture, we’d love to meet you.
What You’ll DoLead the Team
- Recruit, hire, train, coach, and retain a strong team.
- Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable to Barrel 33 standards.
- Create schedules based on anticipated sales and business needs.
- Manage labor efficiently while maintaining excellent guest service.
- Lead by example and step into operations when the team needs support.
- Conduct ongoing training and help employees grow within the company.
- Build a positive, professional workplace where employees work together and take pride in the business.
Own Daily Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the location.
- Maintain awareness of the entire floor and adjust staffing and responsibilities as business demands change.
- Ensure opening, closing, cash handling, inventory, cleanliness, and operational procedures are consistently followed.
- Oversee ordering and inventory while minimizing waste, shortages, and unnecessary spending.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and guest-ready restaurant at all times.
- Ensure equipment and facility issues are identified and addressed quickly.
- Maintain compliance with all food safety, alcohol service, and employment requirements.
Drive Sales & Profitability
Our General Manager isn't just responsible for running shifts — you're responsible for helping grow the business.
- Understand weekly and monthly sales goals and actively work toward them.
- Monitor labor, food/beverage costs, inventory, and other controllable expenses.
- Identify opportunities to increase traffic, average guest checks, and repeat business.
- Coach the team on thoughtful upselling and product knowledge.
- Evaluate what is and isn't working and communicate ideas and solutions to ownership.
- Help develop promotions, events, partnerships, and other opportunities that bring guests through the door.
- Review business performance and make operational adjustments when needed.
Create an Exceptional Guest Experience
- Be present on the floor and actively engage with guests.
- Build relationships with regulars while creating memorable experiences for first-time visitors.
- Ensure employees are knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, and genuinely hospitable.
- Resolve guest concerns thoughtfully and professionally.
- Create an environment where guests want to stay, return, and recommend Barrel 33 to others.
- Represent Barrel 33 and our brand positively within the community.
Events & Community
Barrel 33 is more than a restaurant — events and community involvement are an important part of what we do.
The General Manager will help oversee:
- Live music and special events
- Wine Club events and pickup parties
- Private events
- Community partnerships
- Seasonal promotions
- In-store marketing and social media content as needed
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of restaurant or hospitality management experience required
- General Manager or Assistant General Manager experience strongly preferred
- Strong leadership and team-development skills
- Understanding of restaurant financials, labor management, inventory, and cost controls
- Excellent judgment and problem-solving ability
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable having difficult conversations and holding employees accountable
- Naturally hospitable and comfortable interacting with guests
- Ability to remain calm, aware, and decisive during busy shifts
- Self-motivated and able to operate without constant direction
- Wine, craft beer, cocktail, or food knowledge is a plus — enthusiasm to learn is essential
- Experience with POS systems, scheduling, inventory, and restaurant technology preferred
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods as needed
The Person We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who sees something that needs to be done and handles it.
Someone who notices when a guest has been waiting too long, when the kitchen is getting backed up, when an employee needs coaching, when labor needs adjusting, or when there's an opportunity to make someone's experience better.
You should be comfortable making decisions, taking responsibility, communicating with ownership, and treating Barrel 33 like a business you're proud to lead.
Why Barrel 33?
Barrel 33 is an independently owned wine, craft beer, cocktail, and food destination built around great products, genuine hospitality, and creating a place people actually want to spend time.
As General Manager, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the business, develop your team, build relationships within the community, and help shape the continued growth of Barrel 33.
