Full Job Description

A great UHY client is seeking an Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate will have real estate or property management accounting experience, strong knowledge of GAAP and multi-entity accounting, and experience preparing financial statements and managing month-end close.

The Accounting Manager role is an onsite position. This is a direct hire position.

Accounting Manager Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end close.
Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements and management reports.
Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies and GAAP.
Manage cash flow, prepare cash forecasts, and reconcile bank activity across multiple entities.
Coordinate the annual budgeting process and monitor actual results against budget.
Prepare Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations for commercial tenants.
Oversee property-level accounting for both commercial and residential real estate portfolios.
Monitor lease agreements and ensure proper revenue recognition.
Coordinate with external CPA firms, insurance providers, and other third-party vendors.
Supervise or support bookkeeping and administrative staff as needed.
Evaluate and improve accounting processes, internal controls, and financial reporting systems.
Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documentation as requested.
Analyze financial results and provide recommendations to improve operational and financial performance.
Support leadership with ad hoc financial reporting and special projects.

Accounting Manager Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
CPA preferred.
Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within real estate, property management, or a related industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
Experience managing accounting for multiple entities and complex financial transactions.
Experience with property management accounting, including CAM reconciliations and lease accounting.
Experience with AppFolio or similar property management software strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and month-end close.
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small team environment.
High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
Proven ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
