Project Manager – Mechanical (HVAC)

Position Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and closing commercial mechanical construction projects while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage commercial mechanical construction projects from award through close-out.
- Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets.
- Review project contracts and specifications.
- Coordinate procurement of materials and equipment.
- Monitor project costs, profitability, billings, and change orders.
- Maintain project documentation and project records.
- Serve as the primary contact for clients, architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate project engineers, superintendents, and field personnel.
- Support quality initiatives and OSHA/company safety compliance.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers and cooperative students.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Experience managing commercial mechanical construction projects.
- Knowledge of HVAC/mechanical systems and ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP certification preferred.
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Sage, or similar construction software.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Leadership, communication, financial management, contract administration, organization, negotiation, problem-solving, client relationship management, planning and scheduling, budget management, decision-making, and Microsoft Office proficiency.
Physical Requirements
Ability to visit active construction sites, walk uneven terrain, climb stairs or ladders as needed, occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must be able to safely access active construction sites and comply with all required safety policies and PPE requirements.
Work Environment
Work is performed in both an office environment and active commercial construction sites. Regular attendance at the office and assigned project sites is required to perform the essential functions of this position.
The normal work schedule is generally Monday through Friday, with a typical 8-hour workday. Additional hours, early mornings, evenings, or weekends may be required based on project schedules, business needs, and customer requirements.
Project Managers may be required to respond to urgent project issues outside of normal business hours as business needs dictate.
Employees are expected to comply with all company safety policies and procedures while performing their job duties.
Travel
Travel requirements vary based on assigned projects and business needs. Occasional travel may be required to support project activities, training, company meetings, or out-of-town assignments.
