Join our growing team at Port Angeles Composite LLC as a Composite Kit Cutting Technician. In this entry-level position, the employee has the responsibility and authority to perform assigned kit cutting tasks including pulling raw material, executing Gerber cutting programs, sorting cut plies, assembling laminate kits, and preparing completed kits for freezer storage or use in Layup while maintaining material traceability, quality, and exposure-time requirements.
We’re looking for individuals who are detail-oriented, eager to learn, and able to follow precise procedures. This is a full-time position (Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) offering the opportunity to develop valuable skills in composite manufacturing.
Duties
Review the production schedule, planning, and applicable process instructions; identify required raw materials and support proper material thawing and handling requirements.
Set up and operate Gerber cutting equipment, including loading kit files, running nesting programs, positioning material, starting programs, and monitoring machine performance during cutting.
Sort, inspect, and organize cut plies in proper sequence; verify legibility and kit completeness; assemble kits for QA inspection and final packaging.
Maintain required material traceability documentation including MCR copies, exposure units, out-time labels, lot/roll identification, freezer requisition information, and completed planning documentation.
Perform basic Gerber start-up/shutdown, blade replacement, scheduled machine maintenance, and fill-in work as directed by the Lead while the machine is cutting.
Maintain a clean and safe work area, follow PPE and clean-room requirements, return unused material to the freezer promptly, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Basic math skills required
Blueprint reading and manufacturing experience preferred
Experience in hands-on work (e.g., manufacturing, or crafts) is a plus
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident required
One year of continuous work history highly desired
Ability to maintain consistent attendance and punctuality required
Entry-level composite, manufacturing, material handling, or machine operation experience preferred
Must be computer-literate and able to execute Gerber programs as trained
Ability to read and follow planning, operation sheets, material control records, and inspection records
Basic math skills required
Ability to maintain techniques, time requirements, and quality standards on a consistent and ongoing basis
Ability to properly perform basic Gerber machine operation and required routine maintenance
Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and material traceability
Vision corrected or uncorrected within requirements established for quality
Ability to handle pre-preg material while following clean-room, PPE, and contamination-control requirements
May be required to handle hazardous chemicals

- Work Environment & Requirements
- Ability to work in a clean room, temperature-controlled manufacturing environment
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and repetitive motion throughout the shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with heavier items as needed
- Must wear required PPE (lab coats, gloves, hair nets, etc.) at all times
- Must follow strict cleanliness and safety standards (no food or drink in work areas)
