Full Job Description

Bendcare employs over 300 providers in 26 States. Bendcare offers solutions to help rheumatologists standardize and simplify their practices. Our services and infrastructure allow a specialty care team to shift their focus to quality of care, improved patient satisfaction and optimized practice performance.

Requirements

As a Prior-Authorization specialist, you must demonstrate strong, professional communication and interpersonal skills with clients, the public, managers, and co-workers. Have experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations, and a working knowledge of pharmacy tech processes, specialty medications, and infusion therapies. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely access to medications by obtaining insurance approvals and coordinating patient care.

Job Responsibilities

In this position, you will be responsible for obtaining drug infusion authorizations. You will be assigned to (2-4) Practices along with the team of Revenue Cycle Specialists. Your responsibility is to start the Benefit Investigation, obtain Prior Authorization, and schedule the first infusion visit with the patient.

Accurately utilize the billing system.
Fully understand or quickly learn the Benefit Investigation process (BI).
Fully understand or quickly learn the Prior Authorization process (PA).
Schedule Initial Infusion Visit.
Communicate effectively with physician offices, patients, insurance carriers, specialty pharmacies, and infusion centers.
Review payer requirements, formulary restrictions, site-of-care requirements, and medication-specific authorization criteria.
Assist with specialty pharmacy coordination, prescription status tracking, and medication procurement processes when applicable.
Maintain confidentiality of patient care and business.
Collaborate with Revenue Cycle, Clinical, and Pharmacy teams to ensure seamless patient care and reimbursement.

Other requirements of the role include:

2+ years of experience with medical collections and/or Prior Authorizations.
Working knowledge of specialty medications, biologics, infusion therapies, and pharmacy benefit plans preferred.
Understanding of medical and pharmacy insurance benefits, including buy-and-bill and specialty pharmacy distribution models preferred.
Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer authorization requirements preferred.
Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
Rheumatology, infusion, specialty pharmacy, or biologic medication experience preferred.
