Full Job Description

Job Summary
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), where your expertise will make a meaningful difference in patient care across diverse settings. In this vital role, Provides direct patient care under the supervision of physicians or RNs, performing tasks such as taking vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature), administering medications and vaccinations, dressing wounds, and updating electronic health records. They also assist with medical procedures, sterilize equipment, and educate patients. Midway Specialty Care Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer. MIDWAY SPECIALTY CARE CENTER IS A DRUG FREE WORKPLACE

Responsibilities

Triage patients for the physician and schedule and register patients to plan their appointments by reviewing records and charts the day before the appointment to ensure all required documents are present, all testing is completed, and all results are obtained.
LPN will also follow up on referrals, ensuring appointments are kept, that specialists have information about patients before their appointments, and that the provider receives the specialist’s recommendations.
Informs patients about classes, support groups, or other services that can help them learn more about their chronic conditions and stay healthy.
LPN may work in the front desk region as well, executing prior authorizations, check-outs, referrals, and scheduling appointments.
Maintain updated, signed, dated, and legible notes that document the changing needs and welfare of the patient.
Completes annual educational requirements associated with maintaining licensure for the State of Florida and those that are required by the Company.
Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within the designated time.
Attends annual review and in-services as scheduled. Attends staff meetings.
Represents the organization positively and professionally in the community.
Participates in the clinic's continuous quality improvement activities.
Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the office.
Documents and maintains necessary notes, files, and records for patients. Files all forms, invoices, and documents in proper order.
Notifies appropriate licensed staff when the patient complains of pain.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Communicates appropriately and clearly to co-workers, physicians, and the Office Manager.
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses
psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family.
Interacts professionally with patient and family and involves patient and family in
patient education.
Maintains infection prevention and control standards for exam/procedure rooms; cleans, disinfects, etc.
Identifies patients and confirms their personal information using their ID, documents, or other means.
Determines the right venipuncture method based on patient age, health, etc.
Maintains office instruments; knowledgeable of sterilization techniques and biological indicators for sterilization.
Meets current documentation standards and policies.
Answers telephone calls in a professional manner, directs calls appropriately, refers patient problems to the office physician, and schedules patient appointments.
Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conservation of supplies and equipment.
Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean.
Wears identification while on duty, uses the computerized punch time system correctly.
Represents the organization positively and professionally in the community.
Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the office.

Required Skills & Abilities

Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA regulations.
Ability to exercise superior independent judgment in dealing with complex and urgent medical and social service situations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, their
staff, co-workers, and staff.
Ability to simultaneously respond to technical programmatic requirements while providing compassionate care.
Knowledge of substance abuse issues and dual diagnoses.
Knowledge of federal and state entitlement programs and managed care systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Ability to assist nursing and medical staff with routine examinations and patient treatments.
Phlebotomy skills are a must.
Ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations. Response to the patient is appropriate in emergency or physically distressful situations.
Demonstrates the ability to assist with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of a Physician, PA-C, APRN and/or RN.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the ability to position and prep patients for office procedures.
Knowledge of legal requirements about drawing blood, handling fluid samples, and use of relevant medical equipment and materials.
Proficient with administering injections.

Education and Experience

Current LPN to practice nursing in the state of Florida.
Minimum of six months of recent experience as an LPN.

Language Skills:

Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Additional languages preferred.
Basic computer knowledge.

Physical Demands:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
