Job Description/General Function
The long-term vision of the Family Resource (FR) Program is that “families in our region would know themselves to be resilient, vital members of a well-connected, supportive community.” The Family Resource Navigator (FRN) works with Jefferson or Clallam County families with children (ages 0-18) to ensure accessibility to the resources they need. Specific goals for the FRN include:
- Serving as a highly collaborative member of the FR Program Team
- Building trusting partnerships with families with children and to collaboratively advocate for needed resources/services
- Helping to close feedback loops with both agencies and families

Helping to staff YMCA FR Program activities as needed
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, accessible resource support for families to connect with comprehensive coordinated services that help them strengthen their families and become more self sufficient and capable of mutually supporting other families
- Meet with FR Program Team to assess current referrals from community partners and individuals (including self-referrals) for families needing resources
- Connect with specific families via text, email, phone, etc. to arrange time to meet in person, via phone, or via online platform
- Build trusting, collaborative partnerships with referred and self-identified families
- Do an initial intake with families and work to identify areas of priority need; recognize and promote each families readiness, willingness, and ability to access support
- Both family and FRN commit to specific follow up activities to seek resources and set date for next meeting; enter this intake and all follow up information into WELLD data base

Perform follow up activities and support families as they take steps across services (e.g., seeking Request for Information (ROI) when necessary, helping to remind families of appointments, etc.)
- Connect/meet back with families to reassess and make new plans (if necessary)
- Continue to follow up with families to ensure they have connected with resources
- Follow up with referring and resourcing partners to close feedback loops and offer (whenever appropriate) collaboration insight
- Meet with FR Program team throughout all intake and follow up measures to connect families with needed resources; evaluate efforts on an ongoing basis with team
- Work with FR Program Director to implement and shape the FR Program Logic Model
- Help to staff FR Program Family Nights and other family-services activities (e.g., Meal distribution program) as needed
- Help to staff FR Program direct services (e.g., diaper bank, resource delivery, etc.) as needed

Other program related duties assigned by the FR Program Director and/or CEO
- Based on families’ needs, continue to research best practices/resources and regularly relay this information to the FR Program Team
- Identify and use communication pathways to share community resource information with families who do not have phone and/or internet access
Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree
- 2+ years of experience with family/child services required
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and family/child-advocacy advocacy skills
- Excellent written communication

Strong administrative and computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, program and operating software, and internet applications

Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
- Ability to relate well and communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, in all circumstances

Be 21 years of age or older
- Have a current CPR and first aid certification or be able to obtain one within 30 days of hire

Requires personal transportation that is dependable and reliable to meet families “where they’re at”
Additional Expectations and Duties
- Attends staff meetings and trainings as required and complete all online trainings which include child abuse prevention training within 7 days of hire
- Upholds YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting, and risk management. Adheres to policies to boundaries with youths
- Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations in accordance with mandated reporting requirements
- Responsible for general housekeeping tasks to ensure the workspace is always clean
- Submits hours worked accurately on the electronic timecard, within timelines for supervisor approval
- Passion for high standards and beliefs in the YMCA mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility
- Flexible schedule as needed as on occasion may need to work evenings and/or weekends
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Working Conditions
Environment

Indoor kitchen environment with lots of volunteers
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
- While performing the duties of this job, the employees works indoors and outdoors
- Evening and/or early morning, and/or weekend hours periodically
- Occasional travel required
