Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Freight Audit Clerk to join our team! This vital role combines financial management with administrative support in our office. The ideal candidate will be energetic, highly organized, and possess excellent communication skills. You will handle essential bookkeeping tasks, and provide exceptional customer service to customers and team members alike. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a 45 year old, family owned organization while developing your professional skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Maintain and update daily bookkeeping records and accounting documents including processing of Accounts Receivable payments and entering of Accounts Payable Invoices.
Handle incoming calls using multi-line phone systems, providing friendly and professional customer support
Assist with office management duties such as filing, data entry, and document proofreading to ensure organizational efficiency
Review / Reconcile weekly freight invoices, file freight claims when necessary and represent our company when speaking with freight vendors.
Assist with scheduling of LTL outbound shipments as necessary

Skills

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy office setting
1-2 years experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows
Exceptional phone etiquette and communication skills
Technical proficiency in computer literacy, including familiarity with spreadsheets, word processing, and productivity software using Office 365 Suite
Ability to make collection calls as needed
Prior clerical or administrative experience demonstrating reliability and professionalism
Ability to manage time efficiently while supporting multiple priorities simultaneously
Ability to recognize errors in freight invoices and have strong initiative to challenge duplicate billing, extra fees and incorrect charges.
