Full Job Description

Accounting Support Clerk

The Meyer C. Weiner Company is seeking a dependable, detailed-oriented Accounting Support Clerk to join our team to support our day-to-day financial operations and become part of a 70-year old, family owned real estate development company based in Portage, Michigan. You will not be just an employee, but will become part of a caring family operation where team members are respected, recognized and provided with numerous company-sponsored benefits for a generous, quality of life compensation package.

As a member of the Accounting Department, the Accounting Support Clerk will provide administrative and accounting support for the company's real estate operations. This position assists with accounts payable, tenant payment processing, data entry, semi-annual billings, record maintenance, and other accounting functions to help ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Accounting Support Clerk Essential Responsibilities:

Process daily banking
Enter vendor invoices and assist with accounts payable processing
Process semi-annual insurance and property tax billings
Assist with monthly bank reconciliations
Maintain mortgage schedules
Assist with year-end tax accounting processes
Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation as requested
Maintain accounting records and files
Perform data entry and other administrative duties
Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed

Work Hours & Benefits

8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday-Thursday
8:30 am to 12:30 pm, Friday

Education/Qualifications/Skills:

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
Valid Michigan drivers license with good driving record
Reliable vehicle for daily bank runs
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality of accounting information

Preferred:

Previous accounting, bookkeeping, or property management experience
Experience with accounting or property management software
