Position Summary
The Carpentry Leadman is responsible for leading a small framing and carpentry crew while actively working alongside them in the field. This position ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to The Schneider Group's high standards for quality and craftsmanship.
The ideal candidate is an experienced carpenter who enjoys mentoring others, solving problems, staying organized, and taking ownership of the finished product.
Responsibilities
- Lead and work alongside a residential framing and carpentry crew.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate daily tasks and keep projects moving according to schedule.
- Maintain high standards for quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
- Train and mentor less experienced carpenters.
- Ensure jobsite safety and enforce company safety policies.
- Communicate with project superintendents and management regarding progress, material needs, and scheduling.
- Verify layout, measurements, and installation accuracy.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite.
- Identify issues early and work proactively to solve problems.
- Assist with material planning and inventory management.
- Represent The Schneider Group professionally with homeowners, subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors.
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of residential carpentry experience.
- Previous experience leading a crew preferred.
- Strong framing and finish carpentry skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and construction documents.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds and perform physical work in varying weather conditions.
- OSHA 10 certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain).
