Job Summary

The Safe Place and Teen Court Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the Teen Court program, which serves as an alternative to adjudication through the juvenile court system. The Safe Place and Teen Court Coordinator also provides support to the youth programs at the Crisis Center: Safe Place and Safely Home. This position is a hybrid position that includes evenings and weekends, as needed.

The Safe Place and Teen Court Coordinator shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Involving the Teen Court program:

Work in collaboration with the Teen Court Coordinator
Receives referrals from Juvenile Court Services (Probation Department) and local school districts
Makes initial contact with youth and parents or guardians to schedule initial interview per Coordinator’s schedule
Interview youth and their parents or guardians
Recruitment of volunteers
Training of volunteers, in coordination with the Development Director
Attends all Teen Court trial sessions
Support, encourage and nurture volunteers. This includes awarding of certificates, social events, etc.
Keeps volunteers abreast of any changes in state statutes pertaining to juvenile offenders
Originate Substance Abuse Programs, Prevention, Education, and Parenting Skills Workshop, Theft Seminars and any other workshops or seminars required for the Teen Court program.
Arrange for Teen Court Workshops
Assist other communities in establishing Teen Court programs
Track contacts and outcomes
Pre-trial preparations
Other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director and Teen Court Coordinator

Involving the Safe Place program:

Work in collaboration with the State Safe Place Director
Assist with conducting site visits
Assist with training community members at Safe Place sites
Participate in community outreach and education
Relationship building with local referral sources
Other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director and State Safe Place Director

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology or other related human services field required
Ability to work independently and with little supervision
Sensitivity to and strong concern for the needs of children, youth and their families
Valid driver’s license
Reliable transportation

Schedule

Hybrid model (In office and in the field)
9am-5pm or 12pm-8pm Monday-Friday, as needed
Flex time when working outside of these hours
Availability to work evening and weekend hours, as needed by the programs

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
