Full Job Description

Job Summary: The Medical Assistant provides high-quality clinical and administrative support to physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals in a women's health and OB-GYN setting. This role assists with patient care, examinations, procedures, documentation, education, and daily clinic operations while ensuring compassionate, respectful, and patient-centered service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Support:

· Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, allergies, and chief complaints.

· Prepare patients for gynecological, obstetrical, and prenatal examinations and procedures.

· Assist providers during pelvic exams, prenatal visits, Pap tests, colposcopies, biopsies, IUD insertions or removals, and other in-office procedures.

· Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, including urine, blood, and vaginal cultures.

· Perform injections, immunizations, and point-of-care testing according to established protocols and scope of practice.

· Obtain fetal heart tones and assist with routine prenatal assessments as directed by the provider.

· Prepare, clean, and disinfect examination rooms, instruments, and equipment according to infection-prevention standards.

Administrative Duties:

· Maintain appropriate supplies, medications, and equipment in examination and procedure rooms.

· Accurately document patient information, procedures, and provider instructions in the electronic medical record.

· Schedule appointments, referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up visits.

· Process prescription refill requests and prior authorizations according to clinic policy.

· Answer patient calls and relay provider instructions, and escalate clinical concerns appropriately.

· Protect patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.

· Operates with greater independency and judgment in clinical settings.

· Provide and reinforce education regarding prenatal care, contraception, preventive screenings, medications, and post-procedure instructions.

· Support patients with information related to pregnancy, family planning, menopause, and general gynecologic health.

· Provide culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and compassionate care to patients from diverse backgrounds.

· All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Experience, and Job Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

· Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential preferred (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent).

· Minimum of 2 years of women’s health experience as a Medical Assistant.

· Current CPR/BLS certification required.

· Strong understanding of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and infection control.

· Proficiency in EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

· Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to mentor junior staff.

· Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

· Clinical environment with direct patient contact.

· Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases.

· Requires standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 lbs.

Pay: $20.25 - $23.00 per hour
