Job Posting: Medical Biller – Workers’ Compensation Specialist

Position Title: Medical Biller – Workers’ Compensation Specialist
Location: Visalia, Ca
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Biller with a strong background in Workers’ Compensation claims processing and billing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the complete billing cycle, ensuring accurate claim submission, timely reimbursement, and compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. Experience working with medical providers, therapy clinics, or rehabilitation services is highly preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and submit Workers’ Compensation claims accurately and timely.
Verify patient insurance and Workers’ Compensation claim information.
Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims.
Resolve billing discrepancies and payment issues with insurance carriers, adjusters, case managers, and attorneys.
Maintain compliance with Workers’ Compensation fee schedules and billing regulations.
Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Remittance Advice (RAs).
Obtain authorizations/approvals for both Therapy and Durable Medical Equipment.
Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance representatives regarding billing matters.
Maintain accurate documentation and billing records.
Assist with month-end reporting and other revenue cycle activities.

Qualifications

Required

Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience.
Minimum of 1 year of Workers’ Compensation billing experience.
Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
Experience with claim denial management and appeals.
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and billing software.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred

Experience in outpatient rehabilitation, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or healthcare clinic settings.
Familiarity with California Workers’ Compensation billing regulations and OMFS fee schedules.
Certification such as CPC, CPB, or equivalent.
