Assignment Overview

Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs
Hours: 36 hrs/wk
Start Date: Jul 6, 2026
Length: 13 weeks
Openings: 1

Description

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with Level 1 trauma experience for an evening shift OR position at a hospital in Portland, ME.

Details

Hospital Operating Room setting with 26 OR beds and a 1:1 patient ratio
Evening shift hours: 11:00 AM–11:30 PM on 12-hour shifts
1:4 weekend rotation required
One overnight trauma call shift required (11:00 PM–7:00 AM); specialty team call (Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular, Neuro, Ortho) is scheduled per team rules
Preferred surgical specialties include General, GU/GYN, Ortho Trauma, Ortho Joints, Neurosurgery, ENT, Pediatrics, Plastics, Dental, and Endovascular
Equipment used includes Storz, Stryker, Olympus, and Intuitive Robotic systems
EMR: Epic
13-week contract

Requirements

CST certification required; license required if applicable
Minimum of 2 years of OR/surgical tech experience
Level 1 trauma experience required
Driver's License required for consideration
SSN and DOB required for consideration
2 professional references required for consideration
Ability to work in high-stress situations and adapt to a fast-paced trauma environment

Additional Information

Teal scrubs are provided by the facility
A 25-mile float policy between facilities may apply as needed
Candidates residing within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility (in Maine or New Hampshire) are considered local and may be subject to a different pay rate; local travelers are not eligible for renewals or extensions
Travel pairs or groups are not permitted for this assignment
Use of AirPods, laptops, and cell phones on the unit is prohibited
Candidates who have worked at any MaineHealth facility within the past 12 months should disclose this when applying
