Full Job Description

Overview

The Cook plays an integral role in the success of our team, our community and creating a place our residents are proud to call home.

All food is prepared in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, with our established policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

o Prepare meals that follow the menus and recipes which then are delivered in an esthetically pleasing manner. Food must taste and be temperature palatable.

o Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident. Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures. Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus. Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders.

o Prepare cold item foods, bakery, and salad items.

o Cook hot foods as directed by Supervisor(s). Ensure culinary practices, procedures and food safety are followed.

o Adhere to food service timelines.

o Serve meals to residents and guests as needed.

o Reasonably accommodate foods to residents who refuse daily menu food options.

o Assist in food preparation for special meals, parties, and events.

o Prepare food in accordance with sanitary regulations and Food Serve Safe regulations.

o Ensure work areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner.

o Assist with food prep for the upcoming meal and day.

o Assist with the inventory and replenishment process for food and supplies.

o Meet federal and state in-service requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

o Capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations

o Ability to understand and communicate written and verbal directions

o Regular attendance, reliability and punctuality is necessary

o Ability to work nights and weekends, upon request

o Must be able to work overtime as needed

o May be responsible to work on an on-call basis

o Outstanding customer service skills

o Well organized with excellent attention to detail

o Aptitude to work independently with excellent time management skills

Education and Experience

o Minimum of 3 or more years of food cook experience in a directly related field

o Culinary background experienced preferred

o Proficient in English, verbal and written

o Food Handlers Certificate required

o Active Serve Safe Certification preferred

You must be able to pass a background check.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
