Process Server (Independent Contractor) – Flexible Schedule
Daybreak Process Serving is seeking reliable independent contractors to serve legal documents in the Portland area. This is a 1099 contractor position with flexible scheduling. Ideal for individuals who enjoy working independently, driving, and managing their own time.
Process Servers deliver legal documents to individuals and businesses and complete proof of service documentation. No prior experience is required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
This role is great for someone looking for flexible work and additional income, such as delivery drivers, gig workers, or individuals familiar with their local area.
Pay (Per Job)*
Compensation varies based on service speed:
- $20 – Routine Service
- First attempt within 4 days
- Continued attempts every 1–4 days
- Up to 4 attempts total
- $25 – Rush Service
- First attempt within 2 days
- Continued attempts every 1–3 days
- Up to 4 attempts total
- $30 – Priority Service
- First attempt within 1 day
- Continued attempts every 1–2 days
- Up to 5 attempts total
- $50 – Same Day Service
- First attempt made the same day
- Continued attempts as directed
- Up to 5 attempts total
*Rates may increase for jobs that require additional travel
Responsibilities
- Deliver legal documents to individuals and businesses
- Make multiple attempts at service when required
- Accurately document each attempt
- Upload service notes and photos using a mobile device
- Maintain professional and respectful interactions with recipients
Requirements
- Reliable vehicle
- Smartphone with camera and internet access
- Ability to follow instructions and deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- Professional demeanor when interacting with the public
- Ability to work as a 1099 independent contractor
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience in process serving, courier work, or delivery driving
- Familiarity with the local area
