Yecuris’ cutting-edge liver-humanized animal models and services provide researchers with actionable insights into liver-specific questions at the cellular, tissue, and animal level. The Research Services Group (RSG) is responsible for performing contract research for the Company’s clients. The primary purpose of the Research Associate I – Research Services is to support the Research Services Group by assisting in daily activities necessary for the successful set up, execution, and closure of client-sponsored studies. Daily activities will involve executing lab and vivarium activities and hands-on lab and animal work, recording data, and reviewing study protocols and reports.
Essential Job Functions:
- Support a dynamic biomedical research team by working extensively in a pathogen-free mouse vivarium and performing animal husbandry and handling at animal biosafety levels 1 and 2
- Execute tasks for client-sponsored projects as assigned in an accurate and timely manner
- Support the team in organization and preparation for lab and vivarium procedures
- Learn and perform animal handling tasks, such as (but not limited to): dosing and injections, blood and tissue sampling, necropsy (gross evaluation, organ weighing, gross tissue sectioning), post-mortem tissue collection and processing (formalin fixation, snap freezing, plasma/serum, OCT)
- Learn and perform laboratory tasks, such as (but not limited to): tube/cassette printing and organization to client specifications, ELISA and CLIA assays, qPCR, cell culture, flow cytometry, hepatocyte isolation
- Enter and maintain data in excel sheets and a database
- Perform tasks per the governing document and policies (e.g. SOP, batch record, work instruction, IACUC)
- Strictly adhere to all animal use, biosafety and oversight policies
- Support the team in maintaining a clean and orderly lab and vivarium work environment
- Work both independently and in a collaborative team setting
- Use software including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
- Exhibit willingness and flexibility in adjusting to changing customer priorities

- Possess a “can-do” attitude and be willing to take responsibility for outcomes, with an emphasis on diligence and follow-through
Required Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field (Life Sciences strongly preferred)
- Prior vivarium and/or laboratory experience a plus
- Ability and interest in working with rodent and animal models in a research setting
- Excellent organizational and communications (verbal, written) skills
- Ability to perform with high attention to detail
- Immunization against hepatitis B virus or ability to become immunized
Work Environment:
This position involves duties in a laboratory and controlled Specific Pathogen-Free (SPF) setting, including light exposure to hazardous materials.
- Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for long periods
- Able to bend, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to perform in an environment with exposure to rodents, animal dander, animal byproducts, and bedding materials
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks that require extensive use of hands and wrists
- Ability to lift at least 40lbs
- Vaccinated for hepatitis B virus with protective titer or willingness to become vaccinated
