Wild Oats is a fast-paced café, bakery and market in Brunswick that specializes in real food made by real people. Every loaf of bread, pastry, sandwich, soup, smoothie, and coffee drink is part of a community spot that serves thousands each week.

We are looking for a Counter Manager who is excited to lead from the front, develop people, and help create an exceptional customer experience every single day.This is not just a senior counter position - it is a leadership position - and we are looking for candidates who love mentoring and being part of helping their team succeed.

Our Managers spend part of their day working alongside the team during busy periods, but their primary responsibility is ensuring counter operations run smoothly. That means training and coaching employees, solving problems before they become bigger issues, maintaining high standards for sandwiches and coffee drinks, and helping the team succeed.

If you enjoy developing people, staying organized in a fast-moving environment, and taking ownership of your work, you'll probably enjoy this job.

Your typical day might include

Conducting working interviews for potential counter staff candidates
Training employees and helping them improve throughout the shift
Leading by example during busy rushes while keeping an eye on the bigger picture
Providing exceptional customer service and stepping in to resolve customer concerns
Helping coordinate the flow of work between sandwiches, coffee & pastries, and the cash checkout area
Training new employees and reinforcing Wild Oats standards
Monitoring product quality, cleanliness, food safety, and organization
Communicating with managers and other departments
Giving feedback that helps employees grow
Helping prioritize projects throughout the day so the team focuses on what matters most
Opening or closing the bakery depending on your schedule

What we need from you

Previous leadership or supervisory experience (restaurant, retail, hospitality, or another customer-focused environment preferred)
Thursday - Sunday schedule (with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off) OR Friday - Tuesday schedule (with Wednesdays and Thursdays off).
Reliable transportation to 166 Admiral Fitch Ave. in Brunswick
The ability to stand and move throughout a shift and lift up to 35 pounds
A positive attitude and a genuine desire to be a leader and help others succeed

Previous café or coffee experience is helpful, but it is far less important than leadership ability, communication skills, and a willingness to learn.
