A confidential Skilled Nursing Facility is seeking an experienced, motivated, and relationship-driven Director of Admissions and Marketing to lead our admissions process and strengthen relationships with hospitals, physicians, case managers, families, community organizations, and other referral partners. This position will be a multi-facility role.
This position is responsible for driving census growth while ensuring a smooth, compassionate, and clinically appropriate transition for residents entering our skilled nursing facility. The ideal candidate combines strong healthcare admissions knowledge with excellent communication, sales, networking, and relationship-building skills.
Key Responsibilities
Admissions
- Manage and oversee the facility's admissions and referral process from initial inquiry through admission.
- Review referrals and clinical information to determine appropriateness for admission in collaboration with nursing and clinical leadership.
- Maintain timely communication with hospitals, discharge planners, case managers, physicians, families, and referral sources.
- Coordinate admissions to ensure a seamless transition into the facility.
- Follow up promptly on referrals, inquiries, pending admissions, and hospital discharges.
- Maintain accurate admissions documentation and tracking.
- Monitor referral activity, conversion rates, admissions, discharges, and census trends.
- Identify barriers to admission and work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to resolve them.
Marketing & Business Development
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, physicians, assisted living communities, home health agencies, hospice providers, and other referral sources.
- Conduct regular facility visits, outreach activities, presentations, and networking events.
- Represent the facility professionally within the healthcare and local community.
- Develop and execute strategies to increase referrals, admissions, and overall census.
- Identify new referral opportunities and maintain an active referral pipeline.
- Track marketing activities and outcomes and provide regular reports to facility leadership.
- Assist with community events, facility tours, educational programs, and other outreach initiatives.
- Promote the facility's services, clinical capabilities, rehabilitation programs, specialty programs, and overall resident experience.
Customer Service & Relationship Management
- Serve as a key point of contact for prospective residents and their families.
- Provide tours and clearly explain facility services, admissions requirements, insurance considerations, and the transition process.
- Respond to concerns and questions with professionalism, empathy, and urgency.
- Partner with nursing, social services, therapy, business office, and administration to ensure a positive admission experience.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with residents, families, and referral partners to support satisfaction and future referrals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, marketing, business, nursing, social work, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in healthcare admissions, skilled nursing, post-acute care, hospital marketing, or healthcare business development.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong referral relationships.
- Strong understanding of the skilled nursing/post-acute healthcare environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to meet census, admissions, and business-development goals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic healthcare/admissions systems.
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and commercial insurance is strongly preferred.
