Job Title: Social Media Marketing Specialist
Job Status: Full-time, non-exempt
Job Pay: $21.15-$23.00 Per/Hr. DOE
Job KHQ, WA., is looking for a creative, social-first Marketing Specialist to join an incredible team of 15+ specialists who work collaboratively across our company on projects ranging from internal, corporate, social, community, promotional and client initiatives.
This is a hands-on creative position for someone who understands that great marketing starts with great content. A major focus of this role will be creating compelling, engaging content for KHQ's social media platforms including short-form vertical video, photography, graphics, copy and other digital content designed to capture attention and grow our audience.
You'll help develop ideas, shoot, edit, write, publish and analyze content across social and digital platforms. You'll understand the difference between content that works on television, a website, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and other emerging platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Create and execute social-first content strategies that increase engagement, reach and audience growth for KHQ and its initiatives.
· Produce compelling short-form vertical video for platforms including TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and Facebook.
· Concept, shoot, edit and publish social content from start to finish.
· Develop creative ideas for social campaigns, promotions, community initiatives and station branding.
· Write engaging social copy, headlines, captions and calls to action that encourage conversation and sharing.
· Understand the nuances between linear television, digital, social and platform-specific content.
· Identify trends, emerging formats, sounds, conversations and opportunities that can be adapted for KHQ's audience and brand.
· Monitor social performance and use analytics to help determine what content is working and how to improve it.
· Repurpose existing KHQ content into compelling social and digital formats.
· Shoot and edit both horizontal and vertical video, understanding how framing, pacing, graphics, captions and storytelling change between platforms.
· Produce photography and graphics for social, digital, promotional and community initiatives.
· Write digital content, including blogs and search-engine-optimized content.
· Participate in community events and station appearances, capturing content and helping KHQ connect with audiences in person and online.
· Work collaboratively with the marketing, news, sales and other teams across the company.
· Stay current on emerging social platforms, content trends, technology, AI tools and digital storytelling techniques.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Prior hands-on content production experience.
· Demonstrated experience creating content for social media platforms.
· A portfolio or examples of social media, video, photography or digital work is strongly preferred.
· Strong understanding of social media trends, audience engagement and short-form video.
· Promotions, marketing, journalism, communications or television experience preferred.
· Hands-on camera experience.
· Strong writing and storytelling skills.
· Experience creating both vertical and horizontal video.
· Strong computer background and proficiency with creative tools including:
o Adobe Premiere
o Adobe After Effects
o Photoshop
o Canva
o CapCut
o macOS
o YouTube Studio and/or other social publishing and analytics platforms
· Experience with broadcast HD cameras, lighting and sound preferred.
· Ability to write scripts and develop content from concept through completion.
Requirements
· Must possess a valid driver's license with good driving record.
· Ability to be insured under company insurance.
· Personal auto insurance must meet minimum state requirements.
· Willingness to work outside in the elements for events and productions.
· Ability to lift and carry camera and lighting equipment.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team under tight deadlines.
Physical Demands
· Standing, walking, bending, lifting and moving during shoots and events.
· Driving to various shoot locations.
· Possible long or irregular hours during productions, events or special projects.
Work Environment
· Both indoors in a studio setting and outdoors shooting in various weather conditions.
· Possible exposure to moderate or high noise levels both indoors and outdoors.
· A fast-paced, deadline-driven media environment.
