Lead Dog Trainer / Training Manager

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional trainer who is confident working with a variety of breeds, temperaments, and behavioral challenges while helping clients achieve real-world results. We're looking for a leader who can not only train dogs and coach owners, but also help build and develop a strong training team.
Position Details
- Pay: $23.50–$28.00 per hour DOE (Depending on Experience)
- Independent Contractor (1099) Position

Responsibilities
- Conduct private dog training sessions
- Work directly one-on-one with clients to develop and implement effective training programs
- Work with dogs of various breeds, ages, and temperaments
- Address obedience, behavior modification, and problem-solving needs
- Educate and coach dog owners on training techniques and follow-through
- Evaluate canine behavior and develop appropriate training plans
- Maintain professionalism and positive client relationships
- Document training progress and recommendations
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, and developing Dog Training Assistants
- Mentor and oversee assistant trainers to ensure training quality and consistency
- Help maintain training standards, safety protocols, and company procedures
- Represent Welcome Home Services in a professional manner at all times
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a minimum of 2 years of dog training experience OR equivalent professional certifications in a related field
- Possess a strong understanding of canine behavior and learning theory
- Be able to accurately read canine body language and temperament
- Have experience handling dogs of various sizes, breeds, and behavioral backgrounds
- Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills
- Be reliable, professional, and self-motivated
- Be comfortable working independently and making sound decisions in training situations
- Have leadership qualities and the ability to train, mentor, and develop team members

No dog training experience? Please do not apply.
This position requires previous dog training experience or equivalent certifications demonstrating practical knowledge and hands-on training skills. Applicants without professional dog training experience or equivalent credentials will not be considered.
Working Interview Required
Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in a working interview.
Candidates will be expected to:
- Demonstrate dog handling abilities
- Evaluate canine temperament and body language
- Perform obedience and training exercises
- Explain training concepts and methods clearly
- Show confidence, safety awareness, and professionalism while working with dogs
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with clients
The working interview is designed to assess real-world training skills and ensure a strong fit for both the trainer and our team.
