Motor Equipment Operator Trainee
Salary $49,826 (Grade 9, Step 1)
This is a one-year entry level traineeship in which
incumbents attend driving school and receive on-the-job
training and attend driving classes for the operation of
motor equipment of up to moderate complexity and in
connection with routine manual duties. Specific
directions are received from a superior, but employees
are responsible for the safe and economical operation of
their equipment on assigned tasks. Upon successful
completion of the traineeship, the incumbent will
advance to the title of Motor Equipment Operator.

Minimum Qualifications:

Special Requirements:
- Candidates must possess a valid New York State
driver’s license.
- A valid New York State Class B Commercial
Driver's License (CDL) must be obtained within
6 months of appointment in order to maintain the
position.
- An endorsement for tanker vehicles must be
obtained within 6 months of appointment.

Employees in this class perform routine manual duties in
connection with the operation of motor equipment of up
to moderate complexity. Specific directions are received
from a superior, but employees are responsible for the
safe and economical operation of their equipment on
assigned tasks.

obtained by the completion of probation.
