Multimedia Marketing and Production Specialist

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
This is a managerial position responsible for assisting and supporting the implementation of public outreach programs for BOCES. This position will participate in engaging residents and community members and provide greater transparency about BOCES operations. The incumbent will research, collect, and provide information on a wide variety of topics and utilize many different communication tools including written reports, speeches, media presentations and social media. This person will represent the viewpoints of the organization and will assist in the coordination of communications with the media. Work is performed under the general direction of a higher-level administrator or director with latitude for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out work assignments. This position may supervise lower-level staff and is privy to information relating to a number of confidential and sensitive issues. Work is performed outside of conventional hours, under tight and changing deadlines.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITES:
The following is indicative of the level and types of activities performed by incumbents in this title. It is not meant to be all inclusive and does not preclude a supervisor from assigning activities not listed which could reasonably be expected to be performed by an employee in this title.
1. Designs, produces, and edits multimedia content - including video, audio, graphics, photography, and digital assets - to support internal and external communications;
2. Writes, edits and reviews the distribution of press items on behalf of BOCES including press releases, editorials, letters and other communications for public consumption;
3. Develops and manages marketing and communication campaigns, using AI-assisted tools for content creation, video editing, audience analysis and digital engagement;
4. Manages and maintains the organization's official website by creating social media and website content, coordinating postings and live events, and ensuring consistent branding and messaging across platforms;
5. Plans, organizes, and supports public events and agency-wide initiatives including setup, breakdown, photography, videography, and media relations;
6. Reviews marketing and communication materials such as brochures, flyers, public service announcements and other outreach materials;
7. Keeps up to date on all issues that are of concern to the organization and the public; keeps abreast of current or emerging public issues that have an impact on the policies or operations of the municipality;
8. Ensures all communication materials comply with accessibility standards, copyright laws, organizational branding and messaging guidelines;
9. Collaborates with employees, administrators, educators, public and the media to gather information and represent the organization at public meetings and events;
10. Assists in maintaining various databases and files with contact information and other reference materials on a multitude of topics;
11. Researches public policies, educational initiatives and community concerns, and emerging public issues to strengthen and enhance BOCES communications;
12. May train, supervise and direct the work of lower-level staff.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Good knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing, public relations and effective communications; good knowledge of the techniques and practices of verbal and written communications; good knowledge of writing style, vocabulary, spelling and grammar with strong editing skills; good knowledge of the use of social media, visual/graphic tools, video and camera experience; good knowledge of computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail, database and photographic and video software; ability to research and verify information and develop it into a variety of informative reports; ability to proofread prose and graphic materials and edit the work of others; personal characteristics commensurate with the demands of the position; physical characteristics commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EITHER: (A) Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Public Administration, Marketing, Advertising, Graphic Design/Media Arts, Digital Media Production or a related field;
OR: (B) Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Public Administration, Marketing, Advertising, Graphic Design/Media Arts, Digital Media Production or a related field AND one (1) year of full-time work experience in public relations, marketing, communications, public administration, digital media production or a closely related field;
OR: (C) Associate's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Public Administration, Marketing, Advertising, Graphic Design/Media Arts, Digital Media Production or a related field AND three (3) years of full-time work experience as indicated in (B) above;
OR: (D) An equivalent combination of education, training and experience between the limits of
NOTE: Your degree or college credit must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S.Secretary of Education.
SPECIAL REOUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid Driver License to operate a motor vehicle in New York State at time of
application and to maintain the position.
This is a competitive Civil Service position and requires the applicant to be reachable on the future Dutchess County Human Resources Certification Eligible List.

SALARY: $75,000 - $80,000
Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
