Full Job Description

DLS Events is looking for a Kitchen Supervisor at The Observatory North Park and West Coast Tavern!

The Kitchen Supervisor is directly responsible for all culinary functions including menu creation, food purchasing, preparation and maintenance of quality standards, sanitation and cleanliness, training of employees in methods of cooking, preparation, plate presentation, portion and cost control and sanitation and cleanliness.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Develops menus and menu items, food and food service programs; partners with Food & Beverage GM to streamline BOH/FOH service.
Ensure that all products are consistently prepared and served per recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards.
Prepares a variety of food items as dictated by business needs.
Assumes responsibility for quality of products served; trains team members to prepare food per these standards.
Complies and coaches consistently with portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period; delegates and coaches these tasks as needed.
Maintains a clean, functional and sanitary culinary facility, per company and health code standards; shares standards with team and coaches these values consistently.
Handles, stores and rotates all products per health code; coaches team to properly manage these functions.
Manages opening and closure of facility; follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Delegates and holds team accountable to these tasks.
Attends all scheduled meetings. Communicates positively with management, clients, peers and employees.
Make employment and termination decisions including interviewing, hiring and evaluating kitchen personnel as appropriate; administer coaching and corrective action as deemed necessary to achieve operational excellence.
Prepare all required paperwork, including forms, reports and schedules in an organized and timely manner.
Ensure that all products are ordered and received in correct unit count and condition.
Control product cost by enforcing good working habits among team members through purchasing, portion standards and waste management.
Perform required periodic inventory of all food storage areas.
Schedule labor as required by anticipated business activity.
Oversees the training and development of kitchen personnel in execution, safety and sanitation.

Qualifications:

Appropriate experience in similar roles / volume
Available to work hours required by business
Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
Knowledge of cost controls, including labor and product cost
Expert safety, food safety and food handling knowledge
Positive leadership style; personnel training experience
Creativity and menu development experience
