We are seeking an entrepreneurial Director of Sales to lead our property through a thrilling transformation as we transition from a classic brand into a distinctive, design-forward Tribute Portfolio hotel. This is a rare opportunity to build a new commercial identity from the ground up, curate local partnerships, and position the hotel as the city's premier lifestyle destination.
Tribute Portfolio is a Marriott International "soft brand" comprising independent, upscale, and boutique hotels characterized by striking design, vibrant social scenes, and a strong sense of local character. As a "collection" brand, these hotels allow travelers to enjoy unique, non-cookie-cutter, indie-spirited properties while still leveraging Marriott Bonvoy loyalty benefits.
Position Purpose:
The position of Director of Sales presents an exciting opportunity to oversee the sales operations of a distinct property: a 223 key Full-Service Tribute Hotel. This role requires a proactive and results-oriented individual with exceptional leadership skills, a strong sales background and exceptional communication skills. The successful candidate will oversee all sales initiatives, driving revenue growth and ensuring the highest levels of guest satisfaction.
The Director of Sales plays a key role in identifying new business opportunities, implementing sales and marketing strategies to maximize profits of the hotel, and meeting and exceeding forecasted and budgeted hotel and departmental revenue goals.
Overall, the Hotel Director of Sales plays a pivotal role in driving the success and profitability of the property, leveraging their expertise and leadership to deliver exceptional results in a competitive hospitality landscape.
Essential Responsibilities:
Strategic Sales Planning:
● Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research, prospecting, and networking activities.
● Develop comprehensive sales strategies, aligning with overall business objectives.
● Identify target markets and key accounts, implementing tactics to penetrate and expand market share.
● Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer preferences to adjust sales strategies accordingly.
● Drive strategies to develop long term business relationships and consistently book repeat business.
Revenue Optimization:
● Collaborate with revenue management teams to optimize pricing strategies and maximize revenue opportunities.
● Implement effective upselling and cross-selling techniques to drive additional revenue from existing customers.
● Creating attractive packages, promotions, and optimizing pricing strategies based on demand.
● Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Customer Relationship Management:
● Cultivate strong relationships with clients, travel agencies, and other key stakeholders to drive business opportunities.
● Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and proactively seeking feedback.
● Building long-term relationships with clients to encourage repeat business and referrals. This includes maintaining regular contact with clients, keeping them informed about promotions and special offers, and providing personalized service to exceed their expectations.
Marketing and Promotions:
● Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments to identify opportunities and inform sales strategies.
● Develop promotional campaigns, packages, and sales collateral to drive sales.
● Leverage digital marketing channels, social media platforms, and online travel agencies to increase visibility and attract new business.
● Monitor the effectiveness of marketing efforts and adjust strategies as needed to optimize results.
● Represent the property at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to promote brand awareness and generate leads.
Proposal and Presentation Preparation:
● Prepare compelling sales proposals, presentations, and pitches that effectively communicate the value proposition of our products/services to prospective clients.
● Make on-site and field presentations to prospective clients. This includes showcasing the hotel's amenities, services, and value proposition to effectively communicate why the hotel is the best choice for their needs.
Negotiation and Closing:
● Negotiate terms and conditions with clients to secure contracts and close sales, overcoming objections and addressing concerns as needed.
● Negotiate group and transient business and contracts that meet or exceed hotel revenue goals. Identify opportunities to upsell customers through food & beverage offerings, room upgrades, AV and lighting upgrades.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
● Prepare annual sales budgets and forecasts for both properties, monitoring performance against targets and identifying variances.
● Control expenses and manage resources effectively to ensure sales operations remain within budgetary constraints.
● Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on sales performance, market trends, and business outlook.
Performance Monitoring and Adjustment:
● Continuously monitors sales performance against goals and objectives, tracking key metrics such as conversion rates, Occupancy, average daily rate (ADR), and revenue per available room (RevPAR), RGI against departmental goals. Based on this analysis, they adjust the sales strategies as needed to optimize results and drive success
Sales Team Management:
● Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales teams to achieve sales goals and exceed performance targets.
● Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the sales skills and product knowledge of team members.
● Set clear sales targets and KPIs, regularly evaluating performance and providing feedback to team members.

Education and Experience:
● Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field (preferred)
● Minimum of 2 years Sales experience in the hospitality industry with a proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence decision-makers.
● Excellent negotiation and closing skills, with a focus on building long-term client relationships.
● Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and make data-driven decisions.
● Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English (multilingual preferred).
● Proficiency in sales management software, CRM systems, and the ade shows as needed.
